About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned Head – Fraud Risk to lead enterprise-wide fraud risk strategy and execution across liability, digital, and payment products. This role will be responsible for building robust frameworks for fraud prevention, early detection, investigation, and regulatory compliance.
This is a leadership position requiring deep expertise in fraud risk management within the BFSI domain, along with strong stakeholder management and team leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Define and implement fraud risk management strategies focused on prevention, early detection, investigation, and regulatory reporting
- Develop a forward-looking roadmap aligned with emerging fraud trends and evolving business needs
- Evaluate and enhance fraud prevention and transaction monitoring tools; recommend and implement new solutions where required
- Drive automation and innovation in fraud detection and mitigation processes
Fraud Risk Management & Controls
- Establish and strengthen enterprise-wide fraud risk management frameworks
- Oversee transaction monitoring, fraud investigations, and surveillance systems
- Implement fraud scenarios based on risk assessments to enhance detection capabilities
- Continuously assess and improve fraud detection tools and processes
Policies, Processes & Governance
- Develop and maintain fraud risk management policies and procedures
- Conduct regular reviews and ensure alignment with regulatory and internal requirements
- Lead Fraud Risk Committee governance, reporting, and deliverables
- Ensure learnings from fraud incidents are translated into process and policy improvements
Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure timely regulatory reporting of fraud cases and response to law enforcement agency (LEA) notices
- Manage regulatory interactions and ensure adherence to all applicable guidelines
- Stay updated on industry best practices and benchmark against peer institutions
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with business, technology, operations, legal, and compliance teams
- Engage effectively with senior stakeholders, audit committees, and regulators
- Drive enterprise-wide adoption of fraud risk mitigation practices
People Leadership
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing fraud risk team
- Ensure optimal team capacity and continuous training on fraud detection and reporting
- Attract, retain, and develop top fraud risk talent
Role Requirements
- 14+ years of experience in Fraud Risk / Fraud Control within the BFSI sector
- Minimum 5+ years in leadership roles managing fraud strategy and teams
- Strong expertise in fraud prevention, transaction monitoring, and investigations
- Proven experience in implementing enterprise fraud risk management systems
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working with regulators and handling audit/compliance requirements
