The Kojan Podcast is a platform for authentic and spirited long-form conversations, specifically tailored for students and young individuals. Hosted by Sourish Balaji Ramakrishnan, the podcast features weekly episodes with diverse guests, including student researchers, startup founders, professors, and relatable peers, all sharing impactful insights. The podcast emphasizes unfiltered, unscripted, natural conversations and discussions that resonate with youth and foster genuine connections rather than interview 'podcasts'. Its mission is to provide a voice BY THE YOUTH, FOR THE YOUTH and OF THE YOUTH.

Role Description

This is an online role for the position of Head Editor at The Kojan Podcast. The Head Editor will oversee the entire podcast production process, including planning, recording, and editing episodes to maintain high-quality standards. The role involves collaborating with the team to brainstorm content ideas, ensuring consistency in audio quality, managing post-production tasks, and upholding the podcast’s authentic tone and style. Social Media and more will be handled by The Head Social Media handler. The Head Editor will also be responsible for refining audio recordings, integrating music or sound effects where appropriate, and meeting weekly release deadlines. It is not a full time job, and requires 6 hours maximum per week.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in audio editing tools and software such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, or similar platforms.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills for scheduling, production planning, and meeting deadlines.
• Creativity in developing compelling content and enhancing auditory aesthetics.
• Attention to detail for ensuring audio quality, seamless transitions, and consistent editing.
• Collaborative skills to work with the podcast team, including hosts and guest contributors.
• Familiarity with podcast streaming platforms and trends in podcast production is a plus.
• A degree in Media, Communications, Journalism, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
• Passion for storytelling and creating engaging content for a young audience is highly valued.
