JOB DESCRIPTION: LEAD, E-COMMERCE PRACTICE, PUBLICIS MEDIA
Publicis Media is the media investments arm of the advertising and communications giant Publicis Groupe. It is the third largest in terms of media investments in India and a dominant player in the digital media space. As part of it’s ongoing strategy to partner it’s clients in their journey into the E-commerce space, Publicis Media is setting up a dedicated e-Commerce Practice to help our clients strategize and execute their e-commerce plans in an end-to-end manner by leveraging in-house capabilities and building external partnerships. We currently work with our clients on their e-commerce business from a performance media and marketplace management perspective and are looking to grow this to a much more strategic and deeper engagement with our clients.
This job description is for an experienced professional who could lead this practice. This is a role for someone who wants to become involved with a communication agency that is pushing the boundaries of communication to commerce strategies. We are at the cutting edge of e-commerce solutions, and currently building an entire e-commerce solution suite in India with products, frameworks and partnerships that do not exist in the media world.
The role will also be an integral part of the Global and Regional E-commerce Practice. It would cut across multiple clients within and outside Publicis Media mostly in the consumer durables and FMCG space with frequent interactions with the e-commerce ecosystem – marketplaces, publishers (Google, Facebook) and Ad tech providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Plan for E-Commerce Practice:
- Work with the Publicis Media senior leadership and the Regional and Global E-commerce practice to develop an end-to-end e-commerce offering which clients could leverage either holistically or in a modular fashion basis their need.
- Build a roadmap for execution in terms of partnerships, team investments, technology and tools investments and most importantly the Go-To-Market Strategy
- Performance Media for E-Commerce:
- Consolidate and strengthen the performance media and marketplace management practice across Publicis Media in India
- Build and strengthen best practices and create a talent pool which is abreast with the latest developments in this area
- Interact and work regularly with marketplaces, publishers and ad-tech providers to conceptualize, pilot and roll-out offerings in the e-commerce performance marketing domain.
- Co-ordinate data driven budget planning to have the right segregation of budget across marketplaces, countries and channels to deliver on the client KPIs with the performance marketing team.
- Play a pivotal role in aligning marketing/ media spends to revenue/sales targets for clients by leveraging in-house performance marketing capabilities and best in class frameworks.
- Most importantly, own and drive new business initiatives in this area
- Work on the e-commerce strategy in consultation with the client, marketplaces and publishers on accelerating e-commerce growth in terms of sales, customer acquisition and CRM.
- Play an integral role in client servicing and ensure e-commerce provides a high degree of value-add in terms of delivering on client’s business objectives and client satisfaction.
- Active participation in overall e-commerce product development to provide full-funnel visibility to clients
- Be pro-active in providing data-driven feedback and opportunity insights to clients and delivery teams
- A focus on continuous improvement through both improved processes and the application of technology
- Marketplace: Marketplace partnerships champion within the organization and go-to-person for all e-commerce related work streams as part of client briefs, pitches and existing engagements.
- Capabilities: Initiate and establish a partner ecosystem with reliable and top partners to provide solutions which form a part of the end-to-end E-Commerce offering but cannot be provided through already existing capabilities within Publicis Media
- Technology: Explore and build a technology and tools suite engineered through proprietary tools and also through partnerships with known players.
- Organisational Deployment of the Practice:
- Educate and disseminate the E-Commerce Offering within the Publicis Media organisation.
- Work with the agency leadership to arrive at targets for the E-commerce practice in terms of target clients, go-to-market plans and revenue and work with the teams to execute the same.
- Provide operational support in terms of owning SOPs and manage global-to-local relationships for effective campaign execution.
- Own all internal and external reporting and analysis to keep stakeholders updated on the performance be leveraging the analytics and BI teams.
Key Requirements
- With an overall experience of 10-15+ years and 6-9 years in E-Commerce with marketplaces and Q Commerce or brands (preferably product sales or category management) in a commercial or performance marketing capacity.
- Experience across industries (preferably consumer durables or FMCG) on supply demand dynamics, customer prospecting, acquisition and retention strategies
- Analytical bent of mind and a thorough understanding of e-commerce specific metrics and their dependencies – CPA, CAC, CR%, CTR%
- Exposure to performance marketing strategies, tools and techniques – attribution modelling, customer cohort modelling, churn management.
- Bachelors in Engineering, Science or Business with MBA preferred
