Job Overview
The Head – CIIC (Centre for Industry Institution Collaboration) will lead and strengthen industry–institution partnerships across the campus including the institutions namely MSEC, MSSM, MCW & The NEST School.
The role primarily focuses on creating a strong ecosystem for industry collaboration, research partnerships, internships, consultancy projects, innovation initiatives, skill development, sponsored laboratories, and placement-oriented engagements. The role involves connecting academia with industry requirements to improve employability, innovation, applied research, entrepreneurship, and institutional growth.
CIIC will function across multiple strategic verticals including Industry Partnerships, Consultancy, Internships, Placements Support, Skill Development, Sponsored Labs, Innovation Projects, Faculty Development, Student Competitions, Corporate Relations, and Research Collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
1. Industry Collaboration
a. Promote strong Industry–Institution collaboration across all campus institutions.
b. Develop partnerships with industries for internships, live projects, consultancy, sponsored research, and placement opportunities.
c. Establish long-term MoUs with industries, corporates, associations, and professional bodies.
d. Promote interaction between students, faculty members, and industry experts through seminars, workshops, guest lectures, industrial visits, and conclaves.
e. Facilitate interdisciplinary and inter-institution collaboration for innovation and applied projects.
f. Ensure active industry participation in curriculum enrichment and skill development activities.
g. Develop sustainable revenue-generating models through consultancy, training programs, sponsored projects, and corporate collaborations.
2. Industry Sponsored Centers of Excellence (CoE)
a. Establish Industry-Sponsored Centers of Excellence in emerging technologies and strategic domains within Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College and associated institutions.
b. Coordinate with industries for setting up advanced laboratories, training centers, and innovation hubs.
c. Monitor the implementation, utilization, and outcomes of all Centers of Excellence.
d. Ensure maximum student participation, faculty involvement, and industry engagement in CoE activities.
e. This is a HIGH PRIORITY area for the TRUST and shall be monitored closely.
3. Skill Development & Training
a. Identify industry-required skills and coordinate training programs accordingly.
b. Develop value-added courses, certification programs, and employability enhancement initiatives.
c. Facilitate industry certifications in emerging technologies and professional domains.
d. Coordinate technical training, soft skills training, aptitude programs, and domain-specific workshops.
e. Promote hands-on learning, practical exposure, and industry readiness among students.
4. Internship & Placement Support
a. Facilitate internship opportunities for students across industries and organizations.
b. Coordinate with Placement Cell teams for industry engagement and recruitment drives.
c. Promote industry-integrated projects and internship-linked academic activities.
d. Build strategic corporate relationships for placement enhancement.
e. Track internship outcomes, student performance, and employer feedback.
5. Research, Consultancy & Innovation
a. Promote industry-funded research projects and consultancy assignments.
b. Encourage faculty members to undertake consultancy and collaborative industrial research.
c. Facilitate innovation projects jointly with industries and research organizations.
d. Coordinate intellectual property activities including patents, copyrights, and product development initiatives.
e. Promote commercialization and technology transfer opportunities wherever applicable.
6. Laboratory Enhancement & Infrastructure Support
a. Coordinate enhancement of industry-oriented laboratories in areas such as:
i. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
ii. Internet of Things (IoT)
iii. AR / VR
iv. Electric Vehicles (EV)
v. Renewable Energy
vi. Robotics & Automation
vii. Drone Technology
viii. Sustainability Technologies
b. Ensure laboratories support:
i. Industry training and certification programs
ii. Research and innovation activities
iii. Student projects and consultancy assignments
iv. Campus-wide interdisciplinary usage
7. Curriculum Enrichment
a. Facilitate industry participation in curriculum development and revision.
b. Coordinate implementation of industry-oriented electives and skill-based subjects.
c. Promote experiential learning, case studies, project-based learning, and practical exposure.
d. Align academic curriculum with industry standards and emerging technology trends.
8. Competitions & Industry Events
a. Promote technical competitions, hackathons, innovation contests, and industrial challenges across the campus.
b. Organize national-level and inter-college competitions in collaboration with industries and professional societies.
c. Identify external competitions and forums for student participation across India.
d. Facilitate participation in industrial expos, conferences, innovation showcases, and startup events.
e. Encourage clubs and departments to participate in nationally recognized industry competitions.
9. Mentoring & Industry Guidance
a. Facilitate mentoring support for students, startups, faculty projects, and innovation teams.
b. Connect students and faculty members with industry experts, mentors, consultants, and technical advisors.
c. Ensure technical guidance, safety standards, ethical practices, and project quality in all industry-linked activities.
d. Mentoring, safety, and quality assurance shall be treated as activities of highest priority and responsibility.
General Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning and Development
• Develop and implement the strategic roadmap for CIIC aligned with institutional goals and industry requirements.
• Identify opportunities for institutional growth through industry partnerships and collaborations.
• Establish policies and operational procedures for effective CIIC functioning.
• Build strong working relationships with faculty members, industry partners, alumni, government bodies, and stakeholders.
• Develop sustainable revenue streams through consultancy, training, sponsored labs, certifications, and corporate projects.
2. Program Management
• Oversee the day-to-day functioning of CIIC.
• Organize workshops, FDPs, seminars, conclaves, industrial visits, and collaborative programs.
• Coordinate industry projects, consultancy activities, training programs, and innovation initiatives.
• Monitor progress, implementation effectiveness, and outcomes of all CIIC activities.
• Ensure effective coordination with Administration, Finance, HR, Placement, Marketing, and Academic teams.
3. Partnership Development & Networking
• Build and maintain strong relationships with industries, corporates, startups, professional bodies, academic institutions, and government agencies.
• Identify and secure sponsorships, grants, CSR support, and collaborative funding opportunities.
• Represent CIIC at conferences, networking events, industry forums, and institutional meetings.
• Promote collaborative engagements with MSMEs, multinational companies, research organizations, and industrial clusters.
4. Evaluation and Reporting
• Develop measurable KPIs and metrics to assess the impact and effectiveness of CIIC initiatives.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for Management and stakeholders.
• Evaluate outcomes of collaborations, training programs, internships, research activities, and consultancy projects.
• Ensure documentation, compliance, and continuous improvement of all activities.
5. Promotion and Outreach
• Promote CIIC initiatives and achievements through digital platforms, media, brochures, newsletters, and events.
• Enhance visibility of CIIC within and outside the campus ecosystem.
• Encourage active student and faculty participation in industry-driven activities.
• Strengthen institutional branding through impactful industry collaborations and success stories.
