Urgent Hiring | Head – Steel Melt Shop (SMS)

Ideal Candidate
· BE/BTech in Metallurgy, Mechanical, or Production Engineering; MTech preferred.
· 18–25 years of experience in alloy steel manufacturing.
· Minimum 8 years of leadership experience in an IF-based Steel Melt Shop.
· Strong hands-on exposure to LRF, VD, and CCM operations.
· Proven experience in serving automotive and forging customers.
· Strong leadership capabilities with a data-driven and result-oriented approach.
We are looking for an accomplished Head – Steel Melt Shop (SMS) to lead end-to-end operations at a leading integrated alloy and steel manufacturing facility.
The incumbent will be responsible for driving best-in-class standards across production, quality, safety, cost optimization, operational efficiency, maintenance coordination, and team development across Induction Furnace (IF), Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), Vacuum Degassing (VD), and Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) operations.
Mission of the Role
To own the complete performance of the Steel Melt Shop and deliver excellence in production, quality, safety, cost management, maintenance coordination, and people development.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead end-to-end SMS operations across IF, LRF, VD, and CCM.
· Achieve production targets with optimum productivity, yield, and process efficiency.
· Ensure precise control of steel chemistry, temperature, and casting parameters.
· Drive improvements in OEE, energy efficiency, yield, and conversion cost.
· Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Work closely with Maintenance, PPC, Rolling Mill, Quality Assurance, and Sales teams to ensure seamless operations.
· Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing team of engineers and supervisors.
· Promote lean manufacturing, TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and ERP-driven process discipline.
· Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, statutory, and EHS requirements.
