The Head – BOP Materials Procurement is responsible for leading the end-to-end procurement of Balance of Plant (BOP) materials for the ISP expansion project. This role ensures that critical packages such as mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, refractory, consumables, and auxiliary systems are procured with strict adherence to safety, cost, quality, and timeline objectives. The position plays a pivotal role in supplier development, cost optimization, contract governance, and risk mitigation, ensuring procurement decisions align with long-term project strategy and global best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure alignment with project safety goals, budgets, schedules, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for BOP materials including mechanical, electrical, refractory, and auxiliary packages.
- Drive cost benchmarking and develop cost estimates for large and complex scopes of work.
- Lead negotiations with vendors to achieve cost efficiency within approved budgets.
- Finalize annual rate contracts (ARC) for regular items ensuring competitive pricing and supply security.
- Build and maintain a robust supplier base including global OEMs and domestic suppliers.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Projects, Finance, Logistics, Stores) to resolve bottlenecks and ensure smooth execution.
- Ensure documentation governance and compliance with audit frameworks.
- Drive low-cost country sourcing, i.e. China, Vietnam, etc.
Qualification:
BE/BTech with minimum 15 years of experience in the procurement function of top tier construction/EPC/ EPCM company operating in the Indian market.
Desirable – PG in Construction Management from NICMAR/Reputed Institute or MBA in Operations Management.
Required:
- Around 15 years of work experience in procurement and contract management for significantly large capital procurement.
- Knowledge of global OEMs and domestic suppliers for various BOP packages and materials in the Iron & Steel industry.
- Prior experience in leading negotiations for high-value strategic contracts exceeding INR 500 Crores.
- Exposure to contract modalities in large projects – EPC, EPCM, LSTK, Unit Rate.
- Experience in finalizing annual rate contracts (ARC) for regular items.
- Proven track record of managing senior procurement teams.
