Description
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day functions of the Payroll Department.
- Prepare weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly tax deposits for all companies
- Prepare quarterly taxes, FUTA, SUTA, State, Local and 941’s for all companies
- Balance payroll and tax deposits on a per-pay-period basis
- Prepare monthly accruals and journal entries
- Prepare Year End W2, Year End Reports
- Account Reconciliation for all payroll associate GL accounts
- Timely filing of all Federal, State, Local, and Municipal taxes
- Prepare reports as needed
- Prepare 401(k) file by weekly, bi-weekly and salaried associates each payday
- Handle day-to-day problems and questions with associates
- Support Benefit Audit and Annual External Audit
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience minimum.
- Payroll certification preferred, but not required.
- Kronos/UKG experience a plus.
- Minimum three years payroll experience required; some supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong math skills required; analytical skills are important.
- Excellent communication and writing skills; strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of PC necessary
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft suite with emphasis on excel is required
