We are looking for a highly skilled Analog and digital Hardware Engineer with a deep understanding of analog, digital and mixed-signal design, specifically tailored for defence and aerospace-grade electronics. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in designing rugged, mission-critical hardware systems with strict adherence to military standards (MIL-STD). This role demands technical excellence, attention to quality and compliance, and an ability to lead hardware development from concept through deployment in high-reliability environments.
· Job Role and Responsibilities: -
1. Design and develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal hardware for defence and aerospace platforms, including signal conditioning, sensor interfaces, power management, and EMI/EMC-compliant circuits for stringent working environment.
2. Possess strong analog fundamentals with hands-on experience in LTSpice and other circuit simulation tools.
3. Design and develop digital boards using STM, PIC, TI microcontrollers/microprocessors, and FPGAs.
4. Possess knowledge on communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, Ethernet, EEPROMs, LVDS, HDMI, USB, ARINC 429, and MIL-STD-1553.
5. Demonstrate working-level knowledge of DDR3/DDR4, clock timing, high-speed interfaces, thermal design, DRC checks, MTBF, and MTTR analysis.
6. Validate and review PCB designs created by PCB layout engineers.
7. Perform testing and debugging using JTAG and hardware debuggers.
8. Operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analysers.
9. Be proficient in tools such as Tera Term and Wireshark.
10. Select military-grade components and ensure robustness under extreme environmental conditions (temperature, vibration, altitude, etc.).
11. Perform board bring-up, debugging, and system integration.
12. Lead schematic design, PCB layout reviews, and component selection aligned with system-level architecture and signal integrity requirements.
13. Prepare, review, and maintain hardware documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and qualification reports.
14. Conduct design validation and qualification in accordance with MIL-STD-461E, MIL-STD-810G, RCMA, and other applicable aerospace/defence standards.
15. Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and QA teams to ensure manufacturability, testability, and seamless system integration.
16. Perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot lab and field issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
17. Provide technical support for bids, proposals, and customer presentations with emphasis on compliance, performance, and reliability.
· Skills & Experience (Criteria for Selection)
1. Mandatory
1. 3–5 years of experience in mixed-signal hardware design for defence and aerospace applications.
2. Experience with communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, Ethernet, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, LVDS, HDMI, and eDP.
3. Strong background in LTSpice or equivalent simulation tools for circuit behaviour analysis.
4. Hands-on experience with circuit protection and compliance related to EMI/EMC, ESD, surge protection, etc., including understanding of CS, CE, RS, and RE tests as per MIL-STD-461.
5. Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Reliability (DFR), and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS).
6. Familiarity with aerospace/defence qualification processes, compliance requirements, and associated documentation.
7. Ability to interpret MTBF and MTTR calculations.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a structured, process-driven environment.
2. Preferred
1. Experience in rugged electronics design for airborne, land, or naval platforms.
2. Exposure to MIL-STD-461E/F/G, MIL-STD-810G/H, DO-160.
3. Proven track record of delivering qualified products to defence customers (e.g., DRDO, HAL, BEL, Indian Armed Forces, Private Defence Companies).
3. Soft Skills
1. Excellent communication, documentation, and technical presentation skills.
2. Ability to operate in a classified development environment with discretion and confidentiality.
3. Collaborative and disciplined team player with a solution-driven mindset.
