Senior Hardware Engineer

Role Context & Mandate
The Senior Hardware Engineer at Ammunic Systems is responsible for shaping the company’s long-term technology vision, owning system-level architecture, and ensuring the delivery of reliable, mission-critical defence hardware. This role requires deep hands-on expertise combined with strategic foresight, discipline, and accountability. The Senior Hardware Engineer will operate in an environment where technical decisions have national-level implications, and therefore must balance innovation with safety, compliance, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technology Strategy & Architecture
● Define and own the end-to-end system architecture across all defence programs
● Develop and maintain a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with customer and policy
direction
● Evaluate trade-offs between performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost
● Ensure architectural consistency and reuse across product lines.
2. Engineering Execution & Quality
● Establish rigorous engineering processes, design reviews, and change control mechanisms
● Lead reliability engineering, validation, qualification, and failure analysis efforts
● Own compliance with defence, safety, and quality standards
● Ensure documentation discipline across all engineering functions
3. Team Leadership & Capability Building
● Build and mentor multidisciplinary hardware and systems teams
● Define technical career paths and leadership pipelines
● Foster a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement
● Attract and retain senior engineering talent
4. Manufacturing, Testing & Scale-Up
● Drive DFM/DFA principles into design stages
● Lead transition from prototype to pilot and production scale
● Work closely with vendors, contract manufacturers, and QA partners
● Own product lifecycle support and obsolescence planning
5. External Interfaces & Governance
● Represent Ammunic Systems in technical discussions with DRDO, armed forces, PSUs, and
integrators
● Support bid responses, trials, and technical evaluations
● Interface with certification bodies and testing agencies
● Provide technical inputs to investors, board, and strategic partners
Qualifications & Experience
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related
field.
● 5+ years of experience in defence, aerospace, automotive, industrial, or strategic hardware
domains.
● Proven experience delivering complex systems from concept to deployment
● Strong background in electronics, embedded systems, sensors, power electronics, RF, or
ruggedised systems.
