Position Overview
We are hiring an experienced HVAC Service Technician with at least 5 years of residential HVAC experience.
This role is service-focused and ideal for a technician who is confident in diagnostics, communicates well with customers, and can contribute to service revenue — while working alongside a Lead Technician who handles advanced diagnostics and system replacements.
You will run your own calls while being supported by organized dispatching, Workiz CRM systems, and a responsive office team.
Responsibilities
Service & Diagnostics
- Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems independently
- Perform preventative maintenance and system evaluations
- Ensure clean, professional, code-compliant workmanship
- Assist with system troubleshooting and occasional installation support
Customer Communication & Service Opportunities
- Present repair options clearly and professionally
- Build trust with homeowners through honest recommendations
- Identify system replacement opportunities and communicate them to the Lead Technician or management
- Offer IAQ upgrades and maintenance memberships when appropriate
Field Operations
- Run assigned service calls efficiently and on schedule
- Handle a mix of service, maintenance, and warranty calls
- Support team operations and assist on more complex jobs when needed
Professional Standards
- Complete digital job notes and required photos
- Collect payment onsite when required
- Maintain a clean, organized take-home company vehicle
- Represent the Handy Dan brand professionally at all times
Requirements
- 5+ years residential HVAC service experience
- Strong diagnostic ability
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- EPA Certification (required)
- Clean driving record
- Comfortable using mobile apps and CRM software
- Team-oriented mindset
NATE certification is a plus.
Compensation
- $28–$34 per hour based on experience, diagnostic ability, and communication skills
