Role Description
This full-time, on-site role of Handball Head of Department (HOD) will be based in Mumbai. As a Handball HOD, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of handball training programs, leading and managing a team of coaches, and ensuring the sport's excellence across partnered schools.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing structured training programs, formulating a comprehensive handball curriculum aligned with skill development and age groups, and organizing tournaments and events to promote competitive exposure. You will be responsible for training, mentoring, and regularly auditing the performance of coaches to maintain high coaching standards.
The role also involves evaluating individual and team performance, tracking progress, and introducing improvements where needed. You will foster a strong culture of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.
Collaboration with schools, parents, and other stakeholders to increase participation, build awareness, and grow the presence of handball will be a key aspect of this role. Additionally, you will ensure consistency in coaching methodologies and adherence to organizational standards across all partner schools.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of handball techniques, rules, and strategies, with a background in coaching or playing at a competitive level
- Proficiency in team management and leadership, including experience mentoring coaches or leading sports teams
- Organizational and planning skills to develop training schedules and coordinate events
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and school administrators
- Understanding of child development and ability to inspire and motivate young athletes
- Prior experience in sports education or event management is a plus
- Passion for sports and commitment to promoting physical and mental well-being among students
- Bachelor’s degree in any Sports aligned field (e.g. Sports Pschology, Excersice Physiology, Sports Science, Sports Management, or a related field preferred
