The Lighting Interior Designer partners with sales, engineering, and clients to develop cohesive, full-home lighting solutions for high-end residential projects. This role blends interior design expertise with product knowledge, sales support, and creative problem-solving to deliver lighting packages that align with architectural intent, client lifestyle, and budget objectives. The position collaborates closely with clients and internal teams to create compelling design presentations, adapt catalog and custom products, and help drive successful project outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop complete residential lighting plans that integrate with interior and architectural design concepts
- Translate client inspiration, mood boards, floor plans, and design goals into cohesive lighting solutions
- Specify catalog, modified, and custom lighting products to meet project aesthetics, functionality, and budget requirements
- Partner with sales teams during client, builder, architect, and interior designer consultations
- Support client engagement by identifying lifestyle needs, project priorities, and design opportunities
- Create professional presentations, lighting packages, specification sheets, and visual materials
- Strengthen project design narratives to support sales efforts and help close opportunities
- Manage smaller projects from concept development through revisions and final specifications
- Coordinate with engineering and product development teams on modified and custom solutions
- Maintain strong attention to detail while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Stay current on residential interior design trends, lighting applications, materials, and finishes
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related design field required
- 2-5 years of residential interior design experience preferred
- Experience developing residential lighting packages and specifications
- Experience selecting lighting, furniture, architectural finishes, and decorative elements
- Experience working directly with clients, interior designers, builders, or architects preferred
- Experience supporting high-end residential or custom design projects preferred
- NCIDQ certification or related professional certifications preferred but not required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong understanding of space planning, lighting design, materials, finishes, and full-home design concepts
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite required
- SolidWorks experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong presentation and visual storytelling abilities
- Ability to balance creativity, practicality, and project timelines
- Highly collaborative with the ability to work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and clients
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Primarily office-based environment with extended periods of sitting and computer work
- Frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, and product development
- May require attendance at client meetings, design presentations, showrooms, or project-related events
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities
- Ability to occasionally lift and move design samples, materials, or presentation boards up to 20 pounds
- Standard business hours with occasional flexibility required to support project deadlines or client schedules
