Hammerton is seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join our custom metal fabrication team. This role is ideal for someone with solid foundational welding and fabrication skills who wants to take their craft to the next level. The right candidate will have experience working with steel and aluminum, using both MIG and TIG processes, and will take pride in producing high-quality, visually refined parts used in our premium architectural lighting products.
You’ll work closely with our Fabrication and Production Teams to interpret drawings, prepare and fit materials, perform welds, and help keep production flowing smoothly. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position in a creative, custom manufacturing environment — not a high-volume production job.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform MIC and TIG welding on steel and aluminum components according to specifications and drawings.
- Fit, tack, and assemble parts and subassemblies accurately using jigs, fixtures, and hand tools.
- Grind, finish, and inspect wlds to meet Hammerton's aesthetic and structural standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine material and welding requirements.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure a clean, organized, and safe work area.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical or vocational training in welding or metal fabriction preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in MIG and TIG welding of steel and aluminum components.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in MIG and TIG welding with the ability to produce strong, clean, and visually consistent welds.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with fabrication tools including grinders, band saws, brakes, and shears.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively in a custom, high-mix production environment.
- Must be safety-minded and comfortable working in a busy shop environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position works primarily in a Fabrication shop which includes high level of noise, welding flashes, grinding dust, and oils and lubricants.
- This position requires the employees to have the ability to consistently lift up to 25 lbs.
- All employees are required to participate in 5s activities that include keeping the shop as clean as possible.
