Hamilton School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Choir Teacher to join our team in a full-time capacity. The ideal candidate will inspire students through music education, fostering a love for singing and performance while developing their vocal skills and musical understanding. This position requires an enthusiastic educator who can engage students of varying skill levels and create a positive, inclusive environment for all.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive choral curriculum that meets the needs of students across different grade levels.
- Conduct daily choir rehearsals, focusing on vocal technique, music theory, and performance skills.
- Prepare students for performances, competitions, and community events, ensuring high standards of musical excellence.
- Collaborate with other music faculty and school staff to integrate music into the broader educational experience.
- Organize and direct concerts, festivals, and other special events, including managing logistics and coordinating with parents and the community.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support their growth.
- Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment, ensuring that all materials and equipment are well cared for.
- Engage with parents and guardians through regular communication regarding student progress and upcoming events.
- Stay current with music education trends and methodologies to continuously improve teaching practices.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in music education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Vocal Performance, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Music Education or equivalent.
- Proven experience teaching choir at the middle and/or high school level.
- Strong proficiency in vocal performance and music theory.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with current technology and software related to music education and performance.
- Passion for music and education, with a desire to inspire and motivate students in their musical journey.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per School Board policy.
