Purpose of the Job:
The Conflicts Specialist is responsible for managing the firm’s conflict-of-interest analysis process and serving as the primary gatekeeper for all new clients and matters. The position ensures conflict searches are thorough, accurate, and aligned with firm policies while supporting attorneys, intake staff, and administrative teams across the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conflict Searches & Analysis
- Conduct comprehensive conflict-of-interest searches for all incoming clients and matters using the firm’s conflicts database.
- Prepare and deliver conflict reports summarizing findings to attorneys.
- Data Management & Process Integrity
- Maintain, update, and monitor the conflicts database to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of client, matter, and party records.
- Manage conflict resolution workflows and escalate issues as needed.
- Attorney & Intake Team Collaboration
- Partner with attorneys, intake teams, and administrative staff to ensure all required information is submitted accurately and promptly at the time of matter opening.
- Ensure compliance with firm intake policies to support timely matter openings.
- Policy & Program Implementation
- Support implementation of the firm’s new conflicts and intake program, including adoption of updated policies, tools, and procedures.
- Participate in periodic training for attorneys and staff on conflicts processes and protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, Information Management, or a related field preferred.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience acceptable with strong prior conflicts experience.
- Experience
- Prior law firm conflicts experience required, including exposure to conflict database systems and intake workflows.
- Experience participating in process or system implementation preferred.
