Hadron is seeking an experienced insurance professional to join our team as a Portfolio Underwriting Manager focusing on Property Programs. This role is crucial in developing, implementing, and managing successful property insurance programs through our delegated authority partners, with a particular focus on the small commercial market segment and catastrophe-exposed risks.

Core Responsibilities:

Program Management and Development

  1. Lead technical underwriting review and portfolio management for small commercial property programs including Commercial Property, Inland Marine, and Builder's Risk
  2. Evaluate new program opportunities with focus on underserved property segments and market gaps
  3. Monitor catastrophe exposure, aggregation management, and program performance metrics
  4. Guide product development including coverage forms, pricing models, and risk mitigation requirements
  5. Maintain underwriting guidelines and authority levels for delegated authority partners

Technical Underwriting & Analytics

  1. Review and approve submissions outside of delegated authority limits
  2. Monitor property portfolio metrics, loss ratios, and exposure concentrations
  3. Analyze catastrophe modeling results and manage aggregate exposures
  4. Collaborate with actuarial team on pricing adequacy and hazard-specific rating factors
  5. Develop and maintain underwriting rules and guidelines for automated platforms

Stakeholder Management

  1. Collaborate with cat modeling, actuarial, and reinsurance teams to optimize program structures
  2. Manage relationships with program partners across admitted and E&S channels
  3. Work closely with operations team on system implementation and workflow optimization
  4. Partner with compliance team on regulatory filings and requirements
  5. Support business development team in evaluating new program opportunities

Qualifications:

Required Experience

  1. 5+ years of commercial property underwriting experience, with focus on small business segments
  2. Experience in both admitted and E&S markets, with understanding of state filing requirements
  3. Product development experience, particularly in challenging property classes
  4. Track record of managing delegated authority relationships
  5. Experience with digital platforms and automated underwriting solutions for small commercial
  6. Bachelor's degree

Technical Skills

  1. Strong understanding of property coverage forms, pricing, and CAT exposure management
    Proficiency in catastrophe modeling tools and exposure management systems
  2. Knowledge of regulatory requirements for both admitted and non-admitted markets
  3. Understanding of actuarial concepts and property pricing methodologies
  4. Familiarity with automation and digital underwriting platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  1. CPCU, AU, or related professional designation
  2. Experience with program business and binding authority operations
  3. Background in both standard and specialty lines markets
  4. Experience with CRM and project management software tools
  5. Knowledge of reinsurance structures and property treaty arrangements
