About the role

As a People Relations Specialist in the HR function, your main focus will be to guide and enhance the relationship between the leaders and employees within USA-CA-PR Sales Markets. Your role is crucial in fostering a positive work environment, resolving conflicts, and ensuring that employment policies and practices align with legal requirements. Understanding the broader business goals in your Sales Market and how people relations strategies align with and contribute to achieving those objectives. Equip HR Business Line and Business Leaders with the appropriate training, tools, and access to relevant information to be proactive in managing risk and People Relations related topics/cases. This hybrid role reports into our People Relations Manager, USA-CA-PR and is based out of our NJ Support Office location. A Day in the Life Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities* Focus on day-to-day people relations activities, supporting the HR Business Line in handling issues of conflict resolution, investigations, and policy interpretation Handle escalated investigations and matters where a conflict exists for the HR Business Partner Drive implementation plan of new and/or updated H&M Group social policies, guidelines or framework Deliver on local people relations plans and prios aligned with global strategy and priorities Act on local legally needed adaptations of policies and standards Provide strategic and operational advice to local management and HR Business Line Keep up to date on employment law to ensure compliance Govern and follow up on compliance for entire Sales Market Ensure local grievance process that is in line with the Global grievance policy and handle grievance investigations Ensure the respect for freedom of associations for all colleagues connected to our business Create a trustful relationship with employee representatives Secure that Managers are fully aware of their responsibilities and have a proactive internal dialogue Drive risk assessments as a tool to identify hazards in the physical and psychosocial work environment Participate in risk assessments to analyze and understand events which might lead to crisis and uncertainty in the organization e.g., internal controls or geopolitics context Secure that crisis is handled in accordance with Our General People Principles - In times of crisis Expectation to contribute to People Relations Network​ Occasional domestic and international travel may be required Who You Are: At least three years Employee/People Relations experience (may consider equivalent HR education + ER experience) Knowledge of federal, state, local/provincial US and Canadian employment laws and regulations Demonstrated commitment to human rights advocacy within the workplace.
