About the Role

Hindustani Tongue is India's most trusted online Indian language school — rated 4.9★ on Google by 40,000+ students across the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and beyond. We use a conversation-first immersion method that helps students reach fluency naturally, the same way they learned their mother tongue.

We are looking for a passionate, experienced Gujarati tutor to join our growing team of 100+ native language teachers. This is a remote, flexible role where you set your own schedule and teach students from around the world who are reconnecting with their Gujarati roots, learning for family, business or culture.

Success in this role looks like a student who walks into their first lesson nervous and walks out of their last lesson speaking Gujarati with genuine confidence. You will be the person who makes that happen.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging 1-on-1 live Gujarati lessons online via video call, tailored to each student's goals and current proficiency level

• Use the Hindustani Tongue immersion method — conversation and visuals first, grammar second — to create a natural learning environment

• Prepare personalised lesson plans, vocabulary lists and practice materials for each student

• Assign and review student homework, speaking exercises and written tasks between sessions

• Track student progress and provide constructive, encouraging feedback after every lesson

• Communicate proactively with the Hindustani Tongue team about student progress and any support needed

• Participate in occasional team check-ins and training sessions to maintain teaching quality standards

• Represent Hindustani Tongue's values — warmth, patience, cultural pride and genuine care for every learner

Qualifications

• Native Gujarati speaker — fluency in both spoken and written Gujarati is essential

• Prior experience teaching Gujarati or another language, either online or in person (minimum 1 year preferred)

• Strong command of English for communicating with international students

• Familiarity with the Gujarati script and ability to teach reading and writing progressively

• Comfortable using online tools — Google Classroom, Zoom or Google Meet, and basic digital communication

• Patient, warm and encouraging teaching style — many of our students are heritage learners who feel nervous about speaking

• Ability to adapt lesson content and pace to suit learners of all ages, from children to adults

• Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional space for online teaching

• A genuine passion for the Gujarati language, culture and community — and for passing it on to the next generation

Bonus: Experience teaching Gujarati to NRI diaspora students or children born outside India, East Africa or the UK
