Guidewire Academy Trainer
Role Purpose:
The Academy Trainer – Guidewire is responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously evolving hands on training for the Guidewire Academy, ensuring roles across the Guidewire delivery lifecycle (Developers, BSAs, QE, DevSecOps, Ops) achieve rapid time to productivity and production readiness.
This role operationalizes the Guidewire Academy strategy by translating curricula into high quality learning experiences, embedding real delivery patterns, Zurich standards, and platform learnings into training. The Trainer directly contributes to reducing dependency on external suppliers by accelerating internal capability depth at scale.
Key responsibilities:
Training delivery & execution:
- Deliver role based Guidewire training across onboarding, core skills, and advanced specializations
- Run hands on labs, simulations, sandboxes, and guided build exercises
- Ensure consistent training quality across locations, cohorts, and delivery centres
- Coach learners to production readiness, not just course completion
Curriculum implementation & evolution:
- Implement academy curricula aligned to:
- Guidewire core products (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter)
- Digital, integration, data, cloud, DevSecOps, and operations topics
- Continuously improve training content based on:
- Platform roadmap changes
- Delivery feedback
- Production incidents, defects, and post incident learnings
- Ensure training reflects Zurich blueprints, standards, and accelerators
Capability readiness & time to productivity:
- Support learners in achieving defined time to productivity targets by role and seniority
- Prepare new joiners and transitioned staff (BOT/vendor exits) for production deployment within agreed timelines
- Reduce ramp up risk for critical delivery and run roles
Certification & skills development:
- Train and prepare learners for Guidewire certification paths
- Support Academy Lead in tracking:
- Certification readiness
- Skill gaps by role and module
- Reinforce depth and resilience of skills (avoiding single person dependencies)
Integration with delivery & operations:
- Work closely with:
- Delivery teams
- Architecture
- Quality Engineering
- Operations and production support
- Embed real delivery scenarios, run issues, and patterns into academy training
- Ensure training supports both run stability and change acceleration
Learner assessment & feedback:
- Assess learner readiness through:
- Practical evaluations
- Lab outcomes
- Scenario based exercises
- Provide actionable feedback to learners and managers on readiness and next step development
- Contribute to continuous improvement of academy effectiveness
Required skills & experience:
- 7–12 years of experience in Guidewire delivery or platform roles with a passion to educate & train.
- Strong hands on experience in one or more:
- Guidewire development
- Guidewire BSA / functional roles
- Quality Engineering
- DevSecOps or operations
- Proven ability to explain complex concepts clearly and coach learners effectively
- Experience delivering structured training, enablement, or knowledge transfer programmes
- Strong understanding of role based skill development across the delivery lifecycle
Desirable experience:
- Guidewire certification(s)
- Experience working within large, complex Guidewire programmes
- Exposure to BOT transitions, vendor exits, or insourcing initiatives
- Experience supporting global delivery models (India / Nearshore / Multiple time zones)
- Prior experience playing similar roles.
Success indicators:
- Learners achieving production readiness within defined timelines
- Improved training feedback, confidence, and application on live deliveries
- Increased Guidewire certification success rates
- Reduced dependency on shadow support and external specialists
Strong alignment between academy training and real delivery needs.
