About the role:
This is a senior leadership role responsible for setting and delivering the Group’s tax strategy across all jurisdictions, ensuring robust compliance, strong governance, and effective tax risk management.
The role spans corporate, employment, transfer pricing, and indirect taxes, and requires close collaboration with Finance, HR, Legal, and senior leadership. The individual will also support strategic initiatives including M&A, international expansion, and operational transformation.
As the Group’s lead tax advisor, the role will drive proactive engagement with the business while maintaining strong relationships with external advisors and tax authorities.
Experience & Skills:
- Strong technical expertise across corporate tax, employment tax, transfer pricing, and indirect tax
- Proven experience operating at a senior level within a multinational organisation
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing and developing teams
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Effective communication skills to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong documentation skills with a keen interest in improving standards of working papers and documentation.
- Innovative and forward thinking about streamlining processes for ultimate efficiency, using AI and data analytic tools to create efficiencies.
- Ability to multitask, deal with complexity and conflicting priorities & projects at the same time.
- Able to think both strategically and tactically.
- Capability to engage with stakeholders at different levels.
- Commercial awareness, with the ability to translate tax technical points into clear, practical guidance for non-tax colleagues.
- Accomplished at working effectively across teams in a matrixed operating model.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and to implement these successfully.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, run and deliver tax projects to time and budget while coordinating internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisation and planning skills, effective time management and the ability to use efficient work methods and tools.
- Detail oriented, thorough, and focused on all aspects of the job to ensure accuracy
- Strong analytical skills.
Ability to proactively plan resource with the agility and flexibility to meet multiple stakeholders demands.
- Professionally qualified (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
- Solid experience of working in a finance team or accountancy practice.
- Strong with MS Excel. Experience with MS Teams, Outlook.
- NetSuite ERP, Visio experience will be an advantage.
- Exposure to, or strong interest in, indirect tax determination engines (e.g. Avalara, Vertex or Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE) and their ERP integration would be an advantage.
- An understanding of the indirect tax treatment of digital services and SaaS subscriptions would be an advantage.
- A team player with experience of working with an offshore SSC would be an advantage.
- Proactive, stress resilient, thought provoking, challenging mindset with ability to manage upwards, downwards, and influence across multiple teams and stakeholders. Able to build strong interpersonal relationships and able to influence and interact with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
