Position Overview
We are seeking a Group Financial Controller for one of our leading clients—a global education group with 40+ international entities. This is a senior technical finance position responsible for the accuracy and integrity of consolidated financial reporting. You will collaborate extensively with Management Accountants and regional finance leads to ensure group financial statements are compliant with UK GAAP (FRS 102).
Key Responsibilities
1. Group Consolidation & Reporting
- Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements under UK GAAP (FRS 102).
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes at the group level.
- Oversee intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and foreign currency translations.
2. Acquisition & Post-Acquisition Accounting
- Lead accounting for business combinations (purchase price allocation, goodwill, and fair value adjustments).
- Align newly acquired entities with group accounting policies and charts of accounts.
- Support post-acquisition integration and monitor performance against acquisition models.
3. Technical Accounting & Audit
- Provide technical guidance on complex accounting matters and maintain the group accounting manual.
- Act as the primary point of contact for group auditors during statutory audits.
4. Tax & Process Improvement
- Support global tax planning, transfer pricing, and VAT/GST compliance.
- Implement improvements to consolidation processes and optimize ERP/financial systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification.
- Experience: Significant experience in multi-entity group consolidation and statutory reporting (typically 10+ years).
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102), multi-currency accounting, and intercompany eliminations.
- Systems: Advanced Excel skills; experience with enterprise-grade ERP systems.
- Leadership: Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple countries and time zones.
