Program Assistant – Liberal Arts in Prison Program (LAPP)
The Liberal Arts in Prison Program (LAPP) seeks a responsible and detail-oriented student to serve as a Program Assistant supporting academic programming for incarcerated students at Newton Correctional Facility (Newton, IA) and the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women (Mitchellville, IA).
Position Overview
The Program Assistant supports both instructional and administrative aspects of the program, working closely with students, faculty, and staff to help ensure the effective operation of courses across both facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tutoring support and assist in gathering research materials for incarcerated college students (one course at each facility during the summer term)
- Assist with preparation for the upcoming academic year, including admissions processes and course material coordination
- Coordinate communication among incarcerated students, faculty, and program staff
- Support administrative functions, including clerical tasks, data management, and record-keeping
- Perform additional duties as assigned
