As we expand our capabilities across India and global markets (Middle East, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.), we are looking for a SME - Payroll to guide and strengthen our payroll product offerings.Role Overview:As an SME - Payroll, you will bring deep expertise in payroll processes, compliance, and statutory requirements across Indian and international geographies. You will act as the go-to subject matter expert, collaborating with product teams to ensure the payroll solution is robust, compliant, and market-fit.Key Responsibilities: Domain Expertise & Consultation: Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for payroll processes, compliance, and statutory requirements for India and global markets (Middle East, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.). Stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws, and labour laws to ensure product compliance across regions. Provide domain knowledge and insights to product managers and development teams to design and enhance payroll solutions. Product Support & Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management to document payroll workflows, country-specific statutory requirements, and best practices. Assist in defining product roadmaps by identifying gaps and ensuring solutions align with local and global payroll compliance. Guide the product team on payroll calculations, taxation, reporting formats, and payroll audits for different regions. Customer & Internal Enablement: Support pre-sales and implementation teams in answering customer queries and ensuring smooth product adoption. Deliver internal training and knowledge-sharing sessions to teams (support, development, and product). Collaborate with customers to gather feedback, analyze payroll pain points, and ensure solutions meet user needs. Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure payroll products meet 100% statutory compliance across regions. Drive enhancements for payroll accuracy, process automation, and reporting. Work with testing teams to validate payroll calculations, statutory reports, and system workflows. Global Payroll Research: Conduct market research to understand the payroll landscape, competitor offerings, and opportunities for new features. Identify country-specific nuances and ensure accurate payroll processes for each geography. Requirements: Experience & Qualifications: 5–10 years of experience in payroll management, payroll operations, or as a payroll consultant. Strong expertise in Indian payroll regulations, compliance, and taxation is mandatory. Experience in handling global payroll (Middle East, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.) is highly preferred. Familiarity with payroll software/HRMS solutions is a must. Degree in Finance, HR, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Skills & Competencies: Deep understanding of payroll processing, taxation, statutory deductions, and filings. Ability to interpret payroll laws, labor laws, and tax regulations for multiple geographies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills to explain complex payroll concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Sales, Support, and Development). Adaptable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively. Tools & Technology: Hands-on experience with payroll software/HRMS tools. Proficiency in Excel for payroll calculations and data analysis.
