<strong>We’re Hiring: Senior Estimator<br></strong>The Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the estimating department and ensuring the delivery of accurate, complete, and competitive bids. This role oversees day-to-day estimating operations, mentors and develops estimators, and collaborates closely with operations to ensure seamless project turnover and execution. The Senior Estimator plays a critical role in driving company sales, profitability, and customer relationships while maintaining the highest standards of quality, ethics, and professionalism. <br><br><strong>What You'll Do</strong>
</div><ul>
<li>Oversee the daily management and performance of the estimating department.</li>
<li>Ensure all GMI estimates are accurate, complete, and competitive prior to submission.</li>
<li>Review and validate quantity takeoffs, pricing, scope coverage, and final bid packages.</li>
<li>Ensure strict adherence to company bidding protocols and procedures.</li>
<li>Build new customer relationships and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.</li>
<li>Collaborate productively with the Operations team to support successful project outcomes.</li>
<li>Lead and ensure quality project turnover to the Project Management team upon award.</li>
<li>Train, mentor, and develop Estimators, including oversight of the Preconstruction Employee Development Program (EDP).</li>
<li>Negotiate vendor pricing and define subcontract scopes.</li>
<li>Prepare detailed, professional proposals and technical narratives.</li>
<li>Contribute strategically to company sales growth and profitability goals.</li>
<li>Maintain the highest level of ethics, integrity, and adherence to company policies.</li>
</ul><div><strong>What We're Looking For</strong></div><ul>
<li>Team player capable of working within an assigned team and with other GMi teams.</li>
<li>Quick learner with the ability to learn on the job and teach others, including provision for technical guidance and supervision to architects, structural engineers, and general contractors.</li>
<li>Strong decision-making ability given complex operating, administrative, and procedural decisions, with the ability to diagnose and quickly solve issues in a dynamic environment.</li>
<li>Strong experience in the construction field, specifically the drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceiling, and exterior cladding trades.</li>
<li>Effective communication capabilities, both written and verbal, with the ability to follow through on documentation.</li>
<li>Knowledge of architectural design, planning principles, and procedures with technical knowledge of building components and their function.</li>
<li>Ability to read schematic blueprints and technical manuals.</li>
<li>Knowledge of the operating practices of construction, architectural, and building firms, including an understanding of federal, state, and local building codes, ordinances, and regulations.</li>
<li>Knowledge of construction contract documents and specifications. </li>
<li>Strong organizational skills, including defining, acquiring, deploying, managing resources, and establishing priorities.</li>
<li>Capable of negotiating vendor pricing & contract scopes.</li>
<li>Skill in the use of computers, specifically a PC, Windows-based operating system, e-mail, Excel, and Word.</li>
<li>Complete knowledge of how OST and Quick Bid work and the ability to apply to each bid.</li>
<li>Complete understanding of all parts and pieces that make up our scope of work and how to build that into an estimate.</li>
<li>Understanding of all UL designs for our scope of work and how that relates to the plans and specs.</li>
<li>Understand the specifications and how they relate to the plans.</li>
<li>Ability to prepare a professional and detailed proposal.</li>
<li>Competency in unit costs, historical data & SF cost for appropriate market segments. </li>
<li>Ability to review and ensure accurate take-off and pricing are assembled for each bid before submitting.</li>
<li>Successfully completed a minimum of 6 months in operations, managing projects in a PM role. </li>
