POSITION SUMMARY:
Program Instructors will provide a safe, fun experience for an assigned group of participants while they learn individual and team game skills, sportsmanship, and fair play.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants in a sports program by providing close supervision of all activities.
· Introduce the fundamental concepts of different sports including basketball, soccer, or martial arts.
· Preside over team activities including training camps, clinics, practices, and games. Adjust coaching techniques based on strengths and weaknesses of players.
· Provide instruction through drills and demonstrations.
· Evaluate, set up and break down equipment.
· Evaluate programs and implement new opportunities.
· Adhere to YMCA policies, objectives, and rules.
· Actively participate in all designated trainings and meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 18 years of age. High School Diploma preferred.
· One year experience working with youth in sports.
· Coaching experience in basketball or soccer.
· Strong communication skills.
· CPR/AED certification to be obtained with employment.
