ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  1. Coordinates care for OB/GYN patients including enrollment in services, coordination of ongoing care, patient education, insurance authorizations and surgery scheduling. Initiates and contributes to the development of the patient care plan, in collaboration with the patient, provider and other interdisciplinary team members. Regularly monitors, evaluates and adjusts the care plan/objectives based on effectiveness of interventions and/or changes in condition or environment. Monitors patient compliance with risk reduction plans and/or self-care. Reports deviations to provider for follow up.
  2. Orients staff to new and changing hospital/physician protocols and procedures along with patient education for care.
  3. Maintains delivery logs. Provides information for HEDIS reports and billing when needed. Provides statistics got contractual provider to assist with collection of data for residency program requirements.
  4. Staffing – Coordinates with the Center Manager in hiring of OB/GYN staff and maintains responsibility for training and supervision of such, conducting Career Development Reviews for assigned staff on a timely basis and orienting of new OB/GYN residents to the GLBHC organization. Organizes multiple students’ schedules from contractual providers. Attends meetings with contractual staff and community providers/groups. Completes OB/GYN Residents evaluations monthly. Works with family practice staff currently seeing OB patients and updates them as necessary with changes. Assists with coordination of care of OB patients and transfers, if necessary, to contractual providers for continued care due to high risk tendencies.
  5. Develops/revises protocols pertaining to OB/GYN in coordination with OB Providers, Chief Medical Officer/Medical Director and Vice President of Clinical Services. Maintains OB/GYN Manual.
  6. Conducts/participates in site/department meetings and contractual provider meetings and implements changes for program improvement.
  7. Coordinates outreach activities of the OB/GYN Department and promotes outreach opportunities to better serve patient population. Maintains effective relationship with MIHP to facilitate referrals and subsequent patient visits coordinated with OB visits. Attends in-service/meetings, trainings to stay current with OB/GYN requirements/practices.
  8. Provides triage services per GLBHC protocol.
  9. Initiates, implements and monitors QI activities to enhance provision of patient care. Actively pursues a positive image for the practice at all times. Assesses patient complaints and follows up appropriately.

MARGINAL JOB DUTIES

  1. Participate in special committee assignments as necessary.
  2. Coordinate student educational opportunities with area colleges/universities.
  3. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with BSN preferred.  In lieu of BSN, an RN with 3 years of Primary Care experience accepted.
  2. Licensure: Registered Nurse licensed by the State of Michigan. Maintain a Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
  3. Experience: Experience in an administrative or supervisory role preferred.
  4. Skills: Ability to prepare and maintain accurate written documentation.  Bilingual preferred.
  5. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including patients, providers and referral sources.
  6. Physical Effort: Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  7. Hours of Work: Full-time; Monday through Friday. Flexible and varied.
  8. Travel: Minimal local travel required.  Some out of service area travel may be required for conferences and seminars.  Reimbursement in accordance with HDI travel policy.
