Duration: 3–6 Months
About Cuckoo Images
Cuckoo Images is an award-winning company specializing in large-scale visual communication. From designing the state curriculum textbooks for the Tamil Nadu Education Department to international projects like the Keeladi books in 24 languages, we bridge the gap between traditional concepts and modern design. We are visual storytellers who take pride in precision and impact.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated Graphic Design Intern to join our team. This isn't just a standard "social media" internship; you will gain rare, hands-on exposure to Publication Design. You will work under the guidance of senior designers who have delivered high-profile projects for government bodies and international educational organizations.
What You Will Learn & Do:
- Editorial Design: Assist in the layout and typography for complex book projects (similar to our work with the TN Textbook Corporation).
- Visual Illustration: Help create educational illustrations and cover art that simplify complex information.
- Brand Identity: Support the team in developing logos and branding assets for a diverse range of clients.
- Digital Translation: Learn how to adapt print concepts into digital and web-ready formats.
- Quality Control: Understand the "Print-Ready" workflow, from bleed margins to color profiles for large-scale printing within the company.
Candidate Profile:
- Academic Focus: Currently enrolled in or holding a degree in Visual Communication (VisCom), Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Experience Level: 0–1 years of experience in graphic design (strong academic projects and portfolios are highly welcomed).
- Software Toolkit: Foundation in Adobe InDesign (highly preferred for our book projects), Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Attention to Detail: Because we work on textbooks and historical records, we require a strong eye for detail.
- Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating a clean sense of layout and typography.
Internship Benefits:
- Compensation: As per Industry standard.
- Expert Mentorship: Training in professional publishing standards.
- Formal Recognition: Internship Certificate and a Letter of Recommendation upon successful completion.
- Future Growth: Top performers will be considered for a full-time Junior Designer role (PPO) upon completion of the internship.
