Government Sales Manager

Experience Required: 6+ Years
Job Purpose
To drive business growth by identifying, developing, and managing sales opportunities within Government and Public Sector accounts), OEM partnerships, and direct bidding opportunities. The role requires expertise in GeM portal operations, tender management, OEM alignment, and government procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and engage with Government departments, PSUs, OEMs, and consultants to generate business opportunities
- Drive end-to-end sales processes including lead generation, tender participation, proposal preparation, pricing, negotiation, and closure
- Manage GeM portal activities including product listing, bid participation, order processing, and compliance documentation
- Work closely with pre-sales and technical teams to design customized solutions as per government RFPs and tenders
- Monitor and track government projects, tenders, and empanelment opportunities through GeM, NIC, and other eProcurement portals
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers across ministries, PSUs, and government organizations
- Coordinate with OEMs for authorization, pricing support, technical compliance, and partnership alignment
- Achieve assigned sales targets and contribute to overall business growth in the government vertical
- Collaborate with internal teams for bid management, documentation, and timely submission of proposals
- Maintain updated knowledge of government procurement policies, IT initiatives, and market trends
- Provide regular reports on sales pipeline, project status, forecasting, and competitor activities
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of Government procurement and tendering processes
- Hands-on experience with GeM portal operations and bidding procedures
- Excellent networking and relationship management skills
- Proven experience in handling Government and PSU accounts
- Knowledge of IT Infrastructure, Networking, Cloud, Cybersecurity, or System Integration solutions preferred
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities
- Strategic thinking with strong business acumen
Experience
- 6+ years of experience in Government Sales / Business Development in the IT or System Integration industry
- Proven track record of handling large government projects and achieving sales targets
- Experience working with OEMs, SIs, and government procurement channels
