About the Department
This is routine work involving direct services to underprivileged, medically indigent, unemployed or underemployment individuals and persons requiring family planning services,
An employee this class explains available services to qualified individuals and encourages them to utilize these services. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures of the agency.
Position Duties
Visits prospective patients in their homes to inform them of services provided in health clinics or family planning centers.
Provides patient education by lecturing, distributing health related materials and by discussing health matters with neighborhood residents.
Assists as aides in medical and family planning clinics.
Encourages the medically indigent to seek preventive care and to obtain care early in an illness, through referral to clinics.
Assists in routine service functions in assigned office or center.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year work experience.

FACTOR 1 - KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and procedures of own agency.
Ability to speak clearly and -concisely.
Ability to deal with the public in a firm and effective manner involving departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with associates and others.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
FACTOR 2 - SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
Work is performed under the direction of the Program Supervisor. Assignments are given
by the Program Supervisor. The Departmental Nutritionist reviews the adherence to
establish standards, policies and-procedures.
FACTOR 3 - GUIDELINES
Specific rules, regulations and procedures are established for the effective completion of
various activities. All assignments are reviewed by the Program Supervisor and the
Departmental Nutritionist. Most of these rules require little interpretation.
FACTOR 4 - COMPLEXITY
The assignment involves a wide range of duties relative to data collection, delivery of meals to clients, monitoring congregate and
meal preparation sites, and securing funds collected by the Elderly Nutrition Program. Food sanitation, food procurement,
preparation, safety, and the importance of physical activity are all within the general scope of responsibility.
The employee gets the data from the clients being serviced to determine their nutritional needs and demands.
The employee transfers all data to fulfillment.
FACTOR 5 - SCOPE AND EFFECTS
The purpose of the work is to assist in the delivery of meals to the homebound, in data
coHection and collation, and the receipt, documentation and security of funds collected
for the program. The work ensures that the program is fulfilling its objective of providing
nutritional meals for the needy.
FACTOR 6 - PERSONAL CONTACTS
Contacts are with staff, supervisors, individuals within the agency. clients and potential
clients of the Elderly Nutrition Program, other agencies and the general public.
FACTOR 7 - PURPOSE OF CONTACT
Contacts are to assist in providing information to clients and their families. To gather
information relative to conducting surveys.
FACTOR 8 - PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires considerable walking and standing, climbing stairs and walking up and
down hills, Packing and lifting of foods caddies and other food related items.
FACTOR 9 - WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in the office and in the field.
