Having joined Goldman Sachs in 2012, I vividly remember the interview process exposed me to the bank's technological advancements and the remarkable experience of my future colleagues. More than a decade later and I continue to be supported and inspired by the people around me. I joined the firm as an Analyst early in my career and I am proud to be recognized as a Tech Fellow. Achieving this title demands ambition, drive and hard work on personal front, but a huge portion of credit goes to the support and nurture of both my peers and seniors. I have encountered multiple mentors within the firm who possess a unique blend of integrity, intelligence, and empathy. Their guidance and encouragement continue to be my source of pride and accomplishment. A career in engineering means we work, connect and impact across such a breadth and depth of area across the firm. We have teams located in multiple offices and users worldwide. Every day, I feel a great sense of pride and excitement to be part of engineering, where our work impacts the firm's business and positions us in the global technology landscape. Using technology to create efficiencies is exciting. The practicality and immediate application of our projects make them interesting. Everything we do is evaluated based on whether it saves money, time or makes a job more efficient. As an engineers, your clients and users are often your colleagues so there is a heightened sense of meaning to your work with feedback clear, direct and immediate. We work in a tight loop with our users as well as other partnering engineering teams. I have always found the integration among the various teams and people of Goldman Sachs to be intellectually stimulating, it keeps me motivated and helps me to further sharpen my skills. As a flat organisation, there is always ample room for growth individually and as teams. What truly matters is the quality and impact of your product output and outcomes, rather than your seniority. Everyone works in a highly collaborative and collective manner; geographical locations are not a barrier and the global team operates with a natural synergy. There is genuine room for growth here, you never have to wait for an opportunity to appear it's always there if you can deliver on the work you are doing.
