Headquartered in Downtown Houston, the Golden Pass LNG organization expects to double in size over the next several years as we complete the project, commence natural gas trading activities, and ramp up towards full LNG production. Once full operations commence, Golden Pass LNG will become the second largest consumer of natural gas in the US and produce more than 200 cargos of LNG per annum.

Job Summary / Purpose

Fully competent LNG Plant Operator. Experienced and able to function in either OSBL operation (utilities and storage and loading) or ISBL operation (LNG trains including refrigeration and liquefaction). Fully competent in Operator Care program monitoring. Ensure that all operations and other (maintenance, contractor) work in area of responsibility is carried out with safety as a priority followed by reliable operation. Takes independent executive action as required during process upsets or emergencies.

Essential Duties / Functions

1. Safe and reliable operation of assigned plant area.
2. Continually monitor Operator Care rounds data to proactively detect process deviations. Engage Maintenance and Engineering as required to interpret root cause of deviations, prevent process downtime and plan for any corrective action.
3. Ensure that isolations and preparation of plant for maintenance are made safely and witnessed by maintenance; monitor potential SIMOPS activities and take proactive preventive action to ensure no potential for undesirable incidents. Continually monitor all maintenance and operations activities in the areas under his/her responsibility to ensure continued safety and zero incidents.
4. Fulfill key responsibilities of designated role in the Work Management System to ensure safe and efficient work execution.
5. Interface with Engineering and Maintenance with respect to plant integrity monitoring and potential issues.
6. Take prompt and decisive action in response to any actual or potential plant emergency. During a process safety event, ensure the affected equipment or system is safely isolated when possible. Confirm that the area impacted by the leak is fully cleared of unauthorized personnel and equipment until isolation is achieved and the area is confirmed safe. Shut down equipment as necessary to remove potential ignition sources and support safe emergency response.
7. Participate actively in safety meetings and toolbox talks to support continuous improvement in safety performance.
8. Ensure all plant operations activities within sphere of influence adhere to Golden Pass Management System (GPMS).
9. Ensure compliance with all corporate, local, and legal requirements and regulatory standards.
10. Ensure that changes to settings or operating parameters are recorded appropriately in line with Management of Change (MOC) requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

• High school and/or technical college diploma required (unless years of experience justify absence of diploma)

Minimum experience required of the position

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a process operator (less experience may be accepted for outstanding performance and high level of demonstrated GPLNG assessed competency – approval of exception needed by Plant Operations Manager)
• Experienced in all aspects of assigned area (OSBL or ISBL) outside LNG plant operation

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

• Demonstrated GPLNG assessed competency on processes, practices and procedures for assigned area of LNG Plant equipment, operations (complete OSBL or ISBL area operation)
• Good working knowledge of instrumentation and controls, safe electrical practices, electric motors, pumps and valves
• Able to effectively utilize Operator Care to monitor, detect and report process deviations to avert plant downtime
• Demonstrated knowledge of the SSHE/WMS/GPMS/CIMS/FIMS requirements. Experience in the application of these management systems, including monitoring effectiveness and driving improvement
• Demonstrated knowledge of safety and work permitting process and procedures, HAZOP Program, Incident Reporting, and Emergency Response

• State issued Current and Valid Driver’s License – Pursuant to PHMSA, this is a DOT covered position with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining thereof
• Covered task qualification

Working Conditions

• Normally outside in typical Texas weather for 12-hour shifts with periodic health breaks
• During emergencies and process upsets, potential exists for overtime past the normal 12-hour shift
• Plant operational activities may include working with high pressure steam, cryogenic process streams, and various chemical injection systems

Physical Requirements

• Sufficiently physically fit to endure working conditions stated above
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
