Job Title: GM Fleet Personnel / Crewing

Position Overview:
The AGM Crewing is responsible for overseeing the crewing operations for a diverse fleet including Tankers, Dry Bulk, and Container vessels. This leadership role ensures that all vessels are manned with qualified, well-trained, and certified crew members in compliance with international regulations, flag state requirements, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute crewing strategies aligned with fleet needs and company goals.
- Lead and manage regional crewing offices and third-party crewing agents globally.
- Monitor crewing KPIs such as retention rates, crew costs, and crew readiness.
- Crew Planning & Management:
- Oversee crew planning, recruitment, rotation schedules, and relief planning across all vessel types.
- Ensure timely crew changes while minimizing off-hire and optimizing travel logistics.
- Maintain an effective crew matrix per vessel type, ensuring compliance with STCW and company minimum standards.
- Compliance & Certification:
- Ensure all seafarers hold valid, up-to-date documentation and certifications.
- Monitor compliance with MLC, STCW, ISM, and flag state regulations.
- Liaise with classification societies, flag states, and port state control as required.
- Training & Development:
- Oversee training plans in coordination with fleet HR and technical teams.
- Identify training gaps and develop competency development programs.
- Support succession planning and career progression of seafarers.
- Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Prepare and manage the crewing budget, including salaries, travel, training, and agency fees.
- Optimize crewing costs without compromising safety and quality.
- Crisis Management:
- Take a lead role in handling emergencies involving crew (e.g., medical evacuations, detentions).
- Coordinate with relevant authorities and families when needed.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Maintain strong relationships with ship management, technical, HR, and compliance teams.
- Interface with crew unions, maritime academies, and recruitment partners.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or related field. Master Mariner or COC Class I/II preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in crewing or ship management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience managing crewing operations for Tankers, Bulk Carriers, and Container Ships.
- Strong knowledge of MLC, STCW, ISM Code, and maritime labor laws.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multi-national crews and global operations.
- Understanding of crew psychological wellness and fatigue management.
- Previous sailing experience as Master or Chief Engineer is a plus.
