The Global Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers across a global supplier network. Operating within a multinational organizational structure, this role requires close collaboration with international stakeholders across regions, cultures, and time zones. The incumbent drives cost reduction through market benchmarking, strategic negotiations, and supplier optimization while managing end-to-end commercial relationships with global suppliers. The role delivers measurable savings aligned with annual KPI targets, partners cross-functionally to support business objectives, mentors junior team members, and contributes to the overall capability of the sourcing organization.
Strategic Planning & Commodity Ownership
- Develop and execute 3-year commodity strategies aligned with corporate, purchasing, and business unit goals
- Take full commercial ownership of assigned suppliers and commodities, acting as the global commodity performance owner
- Facilitate commodity strategy meetings for cross-functional and cross-business audiences
- Incorporate supply base rationalization, Best Cost Country (BCC) objectives, localization strategies, and new technology drivers into commodity plans
- Utilize commodity expertise to create and update Business Plans and Strategic Plan Metrics
Cost Management & Negotiation
- Benchmark supplier pricing and negotiate cost reductions to support GCE margin targets
- Mitigate overall inflation in the supply base and drive cost-saving projects
- Set negotiation strategy and direction for commodity-level negotiations; include appropriate team members
- Manage cost recovery initiatives and provide recovery mechanisms for cost drivers as necessary
- Drive cash flow improvement initiatives including payment terms negotiations, consignment stock agreements, and lead time reduction
- Maintain price tables and manage requisitions for pricing related to commodity contracts
Supplier Management & Development
- Drive supplier approval process and manage supply base consolidation to increase negotiation leverage
- Develop alternate sources to improve cost competitiveness and supply availability
- Establish supplier partnerships and strategic alliances to enhance commodity strategies
- Utilize supply base knowledge to manage risk from financial instability or insolvency at individual suppliers
- Partner with suppliers and factories to improve on-time delivery and reduce lead times
Sourcing Execution & Operations
- Execute sourcing capabilities to drive make-vs-buy decision-making at component and finished goods levels
- Assist other Global Commodity Managers in executing their assigned strategies, including regional savings initiatives
- Manage and drive commodity review of projects for all relevant commodity activities
- Support global factories in overcoming short-, mid-, and long-term sourcing constraints
- Coordinate with GCE legal team to ensure contractual obligations minimize risk to the Company
- Store contracts according to GCE Corporation policy and determine contract turnover levels
Market Intelligence & Technology
- Analyze market trends and influence factory decision-making with actionable insights
- Possess and continuously develop knowledge of supply market trends, associations, trade publications, and indexes
- Participate in Advanced Technology projects related to commodities and negotiate with technology partners to mitigate downstream risk
- Utilize Advanced Technology knowledge to set technological direction for commodity strategies
Team Development
- Mentor and coach junior team members to develop high-grade talent within the sourcing organization
- Lead ad hoc cross-functional teams spanning business units and purchasing functions
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field (required)
- Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is a plus (desired)
Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in Purchasing or Sourcing roles within manufacturing-related industries (required)
- Proven track record in a global or multinational organization, with hands-on experience managing global suppliers across multiple regions (required)
- Demonstrated experience interacting with global stakeholders across different time zones, cultures, and business environments (required)
- Experience in strategic sourcing, finance, and/or project/program management (desired)
- Experience in international contract review and negotiation (desired)
