Job Title: GL Accounting Billing/Collections

Role Summary
GL Accounting Billing/Collections role will support billing processes, including invoice generation and manual billing adjustments, manage collection activities such as accounts receivable aging tracking and escalation, handle cash payment applications, and assist with other month-end close tasks like reconciling the billing engine with the ledger.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual billing calculations to handle adjustments, credits, refunds, and exception cases not automated by billing systems.
- Generate accurate and timely invoices, ensuring compliance with pricing agreements, contracts, and billing cycles.
- Manage and prioritize billing query queues received via Slack, JIRA, and AR mailbox, providing clear communication and timely resolutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve billing disputes, discrepancies, and invoice-related escalations effectively.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging, drive collections activities including follow-ups and escalation, and reduce outstanding balances.
- Process cash applications by accurately matching payments to open invoices and resolving payment discrepancies.
- Conduct month-end billing reconciliation activities, including matching billing engine data to the general ledger to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare and maintain reports on billing operations, revenue recognition, collections status, and aging analysis to inform management decisions.
- Assist in identifying process improvement opportunities to automate billing, collections, and cash application workflows.
- Support compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and audit requirements related to revenue and receivables.
- Provide support for system upgrades, testing new billing features, and collaborating with IT or Finance Analytics teams as needed.
- Communicate proactively with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Customer Success, and Legal to align billing and collections strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on billing procedures, dispute management, and cash application workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in billing, accounts receivable, revenue operations, or accounting.
- Proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Experience writing and executing SQL queries or similar data extraction/reporting tools to analyze billing and payment data.
- Strong knowledge of billing processes, invoice generation, cash application, collections, and dispute resolution.
- Familiarity with managing billing queries through communication platforms such as Slack, JIRA, or email.
- Ability to reconcile billing data with general ledger entries accurately.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with billing or financial systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Zuora, or similar ERP/billing platforms.
- Knowledge of accounts receivable aging, collections strategies, and dispute resolution best practices.
- Familiarity with data visualization or analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) to support revenue and billing analytics.
- Experience with automation or workflow tools that improve billing, collections, or cash application efficiency.
- Understanding of key accounting principles related to revenue recognition and month-end close processes.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
