Senior Research Engineer/Specialist - Digital Engineering & Simulation (Bangalore, IN)

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and self-driven Design integration engineer with relevant experience 
in turbomachinery -aero engine domain in Design, Definition, Configuration Change management 
with broader knowledge of analysis verifications. 
As a senior design engineer, you will draw on your specialist knowledge to conceptualize products 
and develop designs in the concept development phase of the technology programs in both metallic 
and composite parts. You will lead CAD definition, design and related activities for gas turbine 
engine components under different engine architectures. You will work within a team of engineers 
and specialists to plan, execute and deliver milestones in the sprint system. You will be expected to 
provide technical guidance and mentoring to design engineers and drive continuous improvements 
in ways of working.

Job Responsibilities

Prepare Design data according to GKN Aerospace Sweden (GAS) standards, Operational Management System (OMS), and technical product requirements Create design package including 2D layouts, engine assemblies interface documents, 3D models, product definition, requirement justification, which are compliant to all design requirements and objectives. Create design packages including 3D definitions which allow for parametric modelling and optimisation of design concepts Perform design validation through tolerance stack-up Understand changes from Change orders(CO) and perform changes on models, drawings, manuals, and other applicable design data Understand the analysis verification requirements and its relation to product design with ability to perform hand calculations based on first principles to verify designs Process and verify documentation such as concessions and non-conformances, and provide technical support by implementing solutions to address non-conforming products, designs, and compliance documentation when need arises. Store, maintain and release appropriate project deliverables, documents, and reports in Teamcenter PLM system  

Support and participate in technical discussions, including creation and preparation of technical data and present solutions to key stakeholders Manage project milestones and track deliverables in an agile environment with good understanding of stakeholder management Ability to foresee risks and issues in project and suggest mitigation actions and plans Mentor and development of engineers within assigned programmes. Support with the creation and delivery of training material and initiatives relevant to project Perform all activities at a level of minimal supervision and guide other engineers within the project as required. Identify improvements and create and/or check the work instructions, procedures, technical manuals, and guidelines.

Job Qualifications

General: Must possess a level of technical expertise especially in the aero engine domain and in the functional area the project/programme is responsible for Design, in order to successfully support the tasks. Must possess a high level of technical problem solving skills Proven experience of handling concept designs in metallic and composites Essential: Holds Bachelors / Masters in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering. Minimum 12-15 years of relevant experience gained within an engineering discipline, ideally within an aerospace environment and in multi-disciplinary engineering project teams (Design/Analysis, Testing & Manufacturing). Apply systems thinking principles to analyze complex interactions and design holistic solutions for the problems Expert Proficiency in creating 3D models, 2D Definition in Siemens TeamCenter and NX Expert Proficiency in creating 3D Models , 2D product drawings independently Expert Proficiency in creating model and definition for Casted/Forged & Machined products Expert Knowledge and Application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Expert Knowledge in stack-up analysis Knowledge of modelling composite structures preferably in NX Knowledge and exposure to component change management processes Experience in Model Based Definition (MBD/ PMI) methods Experience in definition and design of jet engine components, detailed model preparations 

Experience in interpreting analysis requirements and verification results in relation to 
designed part 
Strong understanding of gas turbine engine layouts and familiarity with jet engine 
components and engine assemblies 
Ability to describe and present technical information to a wide audience at equivalent 
levels within the engineering business. 
Able to promote Lean Principles including leading Continuous Improvement ideas (“CI”) 
Demonstrates good mentoring & technical knowledge transfer as part of day-to-day 
activities.
