About the role

The Program Manager, Talent Management is responsible for executing, organizing, and overseeing talent initiatives that drive organizational effectiveness across GitLab. This program management role takes a structured, methodical approach to implementing scalable talent programs that meet business needs while ensuring consistent delivery and measurable outcomes This team member will coordinate cross-functional initiatives, maintain program documentation, and serve as the central driver for talent management processes, translating strategic vision into practical implementation while also leading strategic work areas as needed. This role embodies GitLab's values in all aspects of program delivery and is part of the Talent Management & Development team Execute and Deliver: Implement and manage comprehensive Talent Management programs with a hands-on approach, including Performance Management processes, GitLab Talent Assessments, and succession planning initiatives Contribute to Program Design: Collaborate on designing talent programs while taking primary responsibility for implementation and execution Document and Organize: Create and maintain detailed program documentation, process workflows, and GitLab Handbook pages to ensure consistency and clarity across all talent initiatives Drive Communication: Develop clear, concise communication plans and materials for talent programs, ensuring effective delivery to stakeholders at all levels Manage End-to-End Programs: Oversee complete program lifecycles, from kickoff to implementation to evaluation, with strong attention to detail and follow-through Establish and Track Metrics: Define appropriate KPIs for talent programs and create tracking mechanisms to measure program effectiveness Leverage AI for Productivity: Utilize Claude and other AI tools to enhance program efficiency, automate routine tasks, and generate insights from talent data Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate closely with People Analytics, People Technology, Total Rewards, Talent Development, Talent Acquisition, and Finance teams to deliver integrated talent solutions that support GitLab team members Lead Working Groups: Facilitate cross-functional working groups to drive talent initiatives, ensuring alignment between diverse stakeholders Track and Report: Work with People Analytics to develop and maintain talent dashboards, prepare quarterly reports, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders including executive leadership Coordinate Meetings: Prepare meeting agendas, facilitate discussions, document action items, and drive follow-through on talent program initiatives Implement Tools and Systems: Set up and optimize program management tools and approaches for cyclical talent initiatives of varying complexity Standardize Processes: Create standardized frameworks and methodologies to ensure consistent, efficient delivery of talent processes across the organization Maintain Resources: Audit, update, and manage People Manager Resources and other talent-related content to ensure accuracy and relevance for all team members Stay Current on Trends: Research industry best practices to inform program improvements while focusing primarily on practical implementation
