About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Engineer with strong expertise in drone data processing and geospatial analysis. The ideal candidate will be capable of transforming raw UAV/drone data into high-quality geospatial deliverables such as DTM, DSM, point clouds, and volumetric models, while also contributing to innovation and research in emerging geospatial products.
This role also requires the ability to step in as a Senior Drone Pilot when needed, ensuring seamless execution of aerial data acquisition missions.
Key Responsibilities- Process and analyze drone/UAV data to generate:
- Digital Terrain Models (DTM)
- Digital Surface Models (DSM)
- Orthomosaics
- Dense Point Clouds
- 3D Models and Meshes
- Volumetric calculations and analysis
- Perform quality control and validation of geospatial datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Conduct advanced geospatial analysis for various applications (construction, mining, agriculture, infrastructure, etc.).
- Develop and optimize workflows for drone data processing and automation.
- Research and innovate new geospatial deliverables, techniques, and applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into geospatial solutions.
- Maintain documentation, reports, and metadata for all processed datasets.
Drone Operations (Secondary Role)- Act as a Senior Drone Pilot when required:
- Plan and execute UAV flight missions
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards
- Perform pre-flight and post-flight checks
- Support field data acquisition and troubleshooting during missions
Required Skills & Qualifications- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geospatial Engineering, GIS, Remote Sensing, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years (or as required) of hands-on experience in drone data processing and GIS analysis
- Strong experience with tools such as:
- Pix4D / Agisoft Metashape / RealityCapture
- ArcGIS / QGIS
- CloudCompare / Global Mapper
- Solid understanding of:
- Photogrammetry principles
- Coordinate systems and projections
- LiDAR and point cloud processing
- Experience in volumetric analysis and reporting
- Knowledge of scripting (Python preferred) for automation is a plus
Drone & Field Requirements- Valid drone pilot certification/license (as per local regulations)
- Proven experience in UAV operations and mission planning
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork when required
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in LiDAR data processing
- Exposure to AI/ML applications in geospatial analysis
- Experience in R&D or developing new geospatial products
- Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset
