Yard Duty/Noon Duty Aide

Typical Duties:

  • Patrol school grounds, playgrounds, corridors, restrooms and adjacent areas for the purpose of enforcing district rules and regulations as they pertain to student conduct, safety and behavior.
  • Monitor and supervise students in and around eating areas during brunch and/or lunch periods
  • Prepare necessary follow-up paperwork for documentation and actions taken as designated by procedures
  • Intercedes in and resolves student disagreements
  • Escorts students to class or to proper administrative office as needed

Employment Standards:

  • Knowledge of approved techniques and methods of youth supervision
  • Ability to read and write at a level sufficient to perform required duties
  • Ability to learn District rules and regulations pertaining to student behavior and conduct on campus
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions
  • Ability to analyze situation accurately and adopt effective course of action
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgement in dealing with students
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.

Working Conditions and Abilities:

  • Indoor/outdoor environment
  • Ability to sustain hot/cold temperatures; comfortable working in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, twist, kneel and stoop.
  • Physical dexterity, with ability to operate computer keyboard and other office machines.
  • Physical agility to lift, carry, push, pull up to five pounds on a regular basis and up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to reach in all directions.
