Role Overview
We are looking for someone to join our dynamic team as a
Genetic Implementation Manager
In this role you'll be responsible for leading the successful implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of PIC’s genetic program across the PIC Elite Farm system in Europe.
You will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring alignment of program execution across multiple sites while building team capability through coaching, training, and performance management.
You will directly manage at least one team member and provide leadership to technical site leads and farm teams to ensure consistent execution of genetic improvement protocols and initiatives.
You'll thrive in a culturally diverse, fast-paced environment and work both autonomously and collaboratively across functional teams, including working closely with Supply Chain to coordinate and implement the genetic program effectively across the network.
As the Genetic Implementation Manager, you will bring together technical expertise and strong communication skills, positioning yourself as a thought leader while confidently challenging thinking, navigating difficult conversations, and influencing key stakeholders to deliver the best outcomes for both the business and our customers.
Ideally you'll be based in Spain with approximately 30–40% travel, including some international travel required
You Will
- Lead the implementation and execution of PIC’s genetic improvement strategy across the Elite Farm system, ensuring consistency, compliance, and achievement of program objectives.
- Manage and develop direct report(s) by providing coaching, training, performance feedback, and development opportunities to build a high-performing team.
- Provide leadership and direction to technical site leads and farm teams to ensure effective adoption and execution of genetic improvement protocols across multiple domestic and international sites.
- Partner closely with Supply Chain to align the implementation of the genetic program with animal flow, farm capacity, and operational planning across the elite farm network.
- Drive cross-functional coordination and communication of the genetic improvement strategy to promote understanding, alignment, and execution of key priorities and goals.
- Oversee the execution of routine and special genetic improvement projects, ensuring timelines, resources, and deliverables are effectively managed.
- Support the planning and coordination of genetic dissemination of elite animals across the global elite farm system in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Provide oversight and support for data acquisition systems, including troubleshooting software and hardware issues and identifying innovative solutions that improve data capture and usability on farms.
- Analyze and interpret genetic and operational data using statistical techniques and standard methodologies to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Monitor program performance, identify risks or gaps in execution, and implement corrective actions to improve outcomes.
- Use established procedures and sound judgment to solve operational and technical problems while driving process discipline and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications: (required)
- University Degree in Animal or Meat Science, Animal Breeding and Genetics or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience within livestock production systems, including experience in genetic production and training experience
- Working knowledge of contemporary record-keeping systems
- A minimum of 4 years of experience with Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications
- Must not co-habitat or live on the same premises with any person who works with swine and/or with people that are in routine contact with swine.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree in Animal or Meat Science, Animal Breeding and Genetics or related field
