Role Description The General Physician will provide comprehensive primary medical care to patients at Sevalaya’s healthcare facility in Chengalpattu. This full-time, on-site role includes conducting outpatient consultations, diagnosing and treating common illnesses, managing chronic conditions, and coordinating preventive and promotive health services. The physician will work closely with nursing and allied health staff, oversee clinical protocols, and ensure accurate documentation of medical records. Responsibilities also include health education for patients and families, supporting community health camps, and contributing to training and mentoring of junior clinical staff and volunteers. The role requires a strong commitment to serving under-resourced communities and aligning with Sevalaya’s values and standards of care.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong clinical skills in Medicine and Primary Care, with experience managing a broad range of general health conditions.
- Candidates should possess skills in Family Medicine, including continuity of care for individuals and families across different age groups.
- Candidates should possess collaborative skills in working with Nursing teams and other healthcare staff to deliver coordinated patient care.
- Candidates should possess abilities in Training, including mentoring junior clinicians, health workers, and volunteers on clinical and preventive health practices.
- MBBS or equivalent recognized medical degree; valid registration with the appropriate medical council.
- Prior experience in community health, primary care, or non-profit/charitable healthcare settings is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills in English and local languages, with an empathetic, patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work on-site in Chengalpattu, manage a busy outpatient workload, and contribute positively to a multidisciplinary team.
