Woolworths Group India is partnering exclusively with Zinnov Group to recruit for this position.
About the Role
We are looking for an accomplished technology leader to establish, build and scale Woolworths Group's Technology organisation in India.
Reporting to the Director – Woolworths Group India, this role will be responsible for building a world-class Technology organisation that will become a strategic extension of Woolworths Group's global technology function across Australia and New Zealand.
As the senior-most Technology leader in India, you will build and lead high-performing engineering teams across Technology, Digital, Platforms, Data and Enterprise Engineering while partnering closely with global technology leaders to deliver enterprise technology initiatives.
Beyond technology delivery, you will establish modern engineering practices, build leadership capability, champion AI-enabled software development, drive operational excellence and create an engineering culture that positions Woolworths Group India as a strategic centre of technology excellence rather than a traditional delivery organisation.
This is a rare opportunity to build a technology organisation from the ground up while helping shape one of Australia's largest retailers' long-term technology strategy in India.
What You'll Do
Technology Leadership
- Build, scale and lead Woolworths Group's Technology organisation in India.
- Develop a high-performing engineering culture centred on innovation, customer outcomes and operational excellence.
- Build leadership capability across Engineering, Platforms and Enterprise Technology.
Engineering Excellence
- Drive modern engineering practices including cloud-native engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, automation, API-first development and AI-enabled software delivery.
- Champion engineering quality, security, reliability and developer productivity.
- Establish scalable engineering operating models supporting enterprise growth.
Strategic Business Partnership
- Partner closely with Technology Executives across Australia and New Zealand.
- Align technology delivery with enterprise priorities and strategic roadmaps.
- Influence technology decisions through trusted stakeholder relationships.
Organisation Building
- Recruit, develop and retain world-class engineering talent.
- Build future technology leaders and succession capability.
- Establish Woolworths Group India as an employer of choice for engineering talent.
Operational Excellence
- Drive governance, execution excellence and technology delivery across the India organisation.
- Ensure predictable delivery, operational stability and continuous improvement.
- Build scalable processes supporting long-term organisational growth.
What You'll Bring
Technology Leadership
- 18+ years of progressive technology leadership experience.
- Experience leading large Engineering or Technology organisations.
- Proven success building high-performing engineering teams.
Modern Engineering
- Strong technical credibility across cloud, distributed systems, software engineering, enterprise platforms and AI-enabled engineering.
- Experience driving engineering transformation and developer productivity.
Stakeholder Management
- Experience partnering with CIOs, CTOs and executive leadership teams.
- Strong influencing skills within global matrix organisations.
People Leadership
- Track record building engineering leaders.
- Experience hiring and scaling technology organisations.
- Passion for developing engineering culture and leadership capability.
