Job Summary:
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head of Application Development is a senior technology leadership role responsible for driving the strategy, design, development, and delivery of high‑quality software applications across the organization. This role oversees development teams, ensures alignment with business objectives, and champions innovation, scalability, and best‑in‑class engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the enterprise‑wide application development strategy aligned with business goals.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives and evaluate new technologies to enhance product capabilities.
Application Development & Delivery
- Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of applications (web, mobile, cloud, etc.).
- Establish development standards, coding practices, and architecture guidelines to ensure application robustness and scalability.
- Ensure implementation of secure coding and compliance standards (e.g., data privacy, cybersecurity frameworks).
- Drive the adoption of Agile/DevOps practices for faster and more reliable delivery.
Technology Governance & Quality Assurance
- Implement development governance frameworks, code reviews, and quality controls.
- Ensure delivery of stable, high‑performing, scalable applications with minimal production issues.
- Lead efforts in technical documentation, version control, and release management.
Project & Budget Management
- Oversee project planning, resource allocation, cost estimation, and budget management.
- Track KPIs, development velocity, and overall performance of application development initiatives.
- Manage third‑party vendors, technology partners, and outsourced development work (as and when required)
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
Experience
- 18–20+ years of progressive experience in software development, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience managing large‑scale application ecosystems, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), and enterprise architecture.
- Strong background in Agile, DevOps, microservices, API‑driven development, and modern engineering practices.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in programming stacks (Java, .NET, MVC5, Python or similar).
- Strong knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL), application security, and performance engineering.
