Job Description
GM operation will lead end-to-end construction and project operations, ensuring delivery of projects
within approved timelines, quality benchmarks, and budgeted profitability. The role is accountable
for execution excellence from design finalization through construction and final handover to
customers, while driving cross-functional alignment to achieve AOP targets.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Project Ownership & Delivery:
- Assume complete accountability for project execution from design stage to final handover.
- Develop and drive detailed project execution plans, including construction schedules and risk mitigation frameworks in coordination with Project Management Consultants (PMCs).
- Ensure adherence to approved drawings, product design, quality standards, statutory compliances, and safety norms.
- Drive timely resolution of execution bottlenecks and escalations.
Budget & Cost Control
- Track project spends against approved budgets and ensure cost control within sanctioned limits.
- Monitor cash flows and project profitability.
- Provide technical inputs to Contracts and Costing teams for accurate budgeting and scope definition.
Contractor / Consultant / Vendor Management
- Identify and evaluate contractors, consultants, and vendors for various work packages.
- Conduct comparative techno-commercial analysis and recommend final selection.
- Participate in joint procurement processes.
- Ensure timely execution of agreements (LOI/Work Orders) in coordination with the Contracts team.
- Certify bills of contractors, consultants, and vendors; coordinate with Finance for timely payments.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Contracts & Procurement, Costing & Budgeting, Liaison, Design, Marketing & Sales, Legal, and Finance to ensure seamless project execution and AOP achievement.
- Define communication protocols, reporting cadence, and review mechanisms across stakeholders.
Project Monitoring & Quality Assurance
- Track construction progress against schedule, budget, and design approvals.
- Conduct regular site inspections and review PMC and Project Manager reports.
- Ensure implementation of quality and safety initiatives at the project location.
- Conduct daily internal reviews and weekly progress meetings with contractors and PMCs.
Material Planning & Procurement
- Review material requirement schedules with PMCs.
- Coordinate with Contracts and Procurement for timely material availability.
- Align with Design and Regional Head where required for technical approvals.
MIS & Reporting
- Prepare and present monthly project status reports to the Operations Head and Regional
Head
- Highlight risks, mitigation strategies, cost variances, and schedule deviations.
