Role: General Manager – Operations
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced General Manager – Operations to lead end-to-end manufacturing, workforce, and plant operations. The role will focus on operational excellence, team leadership, capacity scaling, and implementation of global best practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Operations & Performance
- Lead complete plant operations including extraction, evaporation, crystallization, blending.
- Drive yield improvement, recovery optimization, and cost efficiency
- Monitor production KPIs to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance
- Optimize capacity utilization and reduce downtime
2. Workforce Management & Recruitment
- Lead recruitment and manpower planning across production, engineering, and support functions
- Manage contract labour, operators, and shift teams to ensure smooth plant functioning
- Develop workforce deployment strategies to improve productivity and reduce costs
- Build and mentor second-line leadership (shift in-charges, supervisors, engineers)
- Ensure discipline, safety awareness, and adherence to company policies across all levels
3. Production Planning & Supply Chain
- Plan production schedules aligned with business demand and customer requirements
- Oversee raw material procurement, inventory control, and vendor management
- Coordinate closely with procurement, quality, and commercial teams
4. Process Optimization & Technical Excellence
- Lead process troubleshooting, solvent selection, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive process scale-up, new product development, and technology integration
- Implement global/MNC-level operational standards and systems
5. Projects & Expansion
- Execute capacity expansion, debottlenecking, and plant improvement projects
- Lead new plant setup, installation, and commissioning (domestic/international)
- Drive automation and modernization initiatives
6. Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GHP, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain audit readiness and documentation standards
- Ensure final products meet customer and quality specifications
7. Maintenance & Reliability
- Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance systems
- Improve equipment reliability and plant uptime
8. Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Drive cost reduction initiatives across operations and supply chain
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA
- Improve manpower productivity and resource utilization
Other Requirements
- Industry: Spice Oleoresins/ Essential Oils and Antioxidants
- Education: B.Tech / M.Tech (Chemical / Mechanical) or B.Sc / M.Sc (Chemistry)
- Experience: Minimum 10 years Experence (with leadership experience in plant operations)
- Expertise: Antioxidants, Oleoresins, Essential Oils, Natural Extracts
- Functional Area: Operations / Manufacturing / Plant Management
