POSITION PURPOSE
The General Manager – Financial Consolidation & Accounts Reconciliation is a mid-senior management role responsible for group-level financial consolidation and accounts reconciliation across Essar's domestic entities. Working closely with the Sr. Vice President – Finance & Accounts, the role also extends dedicated financial reporting and reconciliation support to Family Office.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role suited to a finance professional who can independently own the consolidation and reconciliation cycle — from entity-level trial balances through to consolidated group financial statements under Ind AS — while maintaining the accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality expected in a Family Office environment. The incumbent will work closely with statutory auditors, entity-level finance teams, and the Family Office to ensure clean, fully reconciled books across all domestic entities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory.
- Additional qualification such as Cost & Management Accountant (CMA) or Company Secretary (CS) would be an advantage.
- Experience with a mid-size or Big Four audit/assurance firm, or a large corporate finance function, is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Ind AS, group consolidation accounting, and ERP-based financial reporting (SAP or equivalent) is essential.
Experience
Minimum 8-12 years of post-qualification experience in financial consolidation, accounts reconciliation, and financial reporting, ideally within a diversified conglomerate, investment holding company, family office, or multi-entity domestic group.
- Demonstrated experience managing group-level consolidation across multiple domestic entities/subsidiaries under Ind AS.
- Hands-on experience in accounts reconciliation — inter-company, bank, vendor, and general ledger reconciliations — across a multi-entity environment.
- Experience finalizing books of accounts, coordinating statutory audits, and closing quarterly/annual financial statements.
- Exposure to Family Office or promoter-group financial reporting, with the discretion and commercial sensitivity such environments demand.
- Strong command of MIS reporting, budget variance analysis, and month-end/quarter-end close processes.
- Working knowledge of direct and indirect tax compliance, and coordination with tax and statutory auditors, is an advantage.
SKILL/COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENTS
- Strong technical command of Ind AS / Indian GAAP, group consolidation principles, and financial statement closure processes across multi-entity structures.
- Hands-on expertise in accounts reconciliation — inter-company, bank, vendor/creditor, debtor, and general ledger reconciliations — with the ability to independently resolve reconciliation differences.
- Strong MIS and management-reporting skills — monthly closing, budget vs. actuals, variance analysis, and board/promoter-level financial packs.
- Commercial fluency across investment holding structures, inter-company transactions, and Family Office financial arrangements, with the discretion such an environment requires.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with statutory auditors, tax consultants, and business finance teams to ensure timely, accurate, and audit-ready closures.
- Strong process orientation — able to identify reconciliation gaps, streamline closing timelines, and strengthen financial controls across entities.
- Self-directed and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple entities and deadlines within a lean team structure.
KEY ACTIVITIES
Financial Consolidation
- Own the end-to-end group financial consolidation process for Essar's domestic entities — collating entity-level financials, eliminating inter-company transactions, and preparing consolidated financial statements under Ind AS.
- Ensure consolidation adjustments (minority interest, investment eliminations, unrealised profits) are accurately captured and documented.
- Coordinate with entity-level finance teams to obtain timely and accurate trial balances and supporting schedules for consolidation.
- Maintain and continuously improve consolidation templates, checklists, and timelines to shorten the group close cycle.
Accounts Reconciliation
- Drive periodic reconciliation of inter-company balances, bank accounts, vendor/creditor ledgers, and debtor accounts across domestic entities.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences on a timely basis, escalating unresolved items to the Sr. Vice President – Finance & Accounts.
- Establish standardised reconciliation formats and cadences across entities to improve consistency and audit readiness.
- Maintain clean, reconciled general ledgers to support accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
Family Office Financial Reporting
- Support the Family Office with accurate, timely, and confidential financial reporting on domestic entity performance and consolidated positions.
- Prepare periodic financial summaries and reconciliation status updates for Promoters and Directors.
- Maintain the highest level of discretion in handling Family Office-related financial information and inter-entity transactions.
MIS & Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly MIS, consolidated financial packs, and variance analysis for senior management review.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes with accurate, reconciled actuals across entities.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting support to the Sr. Vice President – Finance & Accounts and Operating Partner as required.
Statutory Compliance & Audit Coordination
- Coordinate with statutory auditors for timely completion of audits across domestic entities and at the consolidated group level.
- Ensure consolidation and reconciliation working papers are audit-ready and support closure of audit queries.
- Work with tax consultants and internal teams to ensure accurate tax provisioning and compliance inputs are reflected in the consolidated financials.
