Company Overview
ATA Business Ventures Private Limited (ATA) is a multi-faceted renewable energy and infrastructure developer in India. Navigating as a progressive energy transition platform, our renewable vertical focuses on both turnkey Engineering, Procurement, & Construction (EPC) and Independent Power Producer (IPP) models across solar, energy storage (BESS), and new-age green assets. Having successfully scaled an active operational portfolio to 13 MW with another 6 MW currently under construction, ATA leverages cutting-edge data analytics and innovative business models to maximize asset performance.
Position: General Manager – Business Development
Location: Delhi-NCR (with regional travel)
Reporting to: CEO
Experience: 5–10 Years in C&I Solar Space
Description
The incumbent will act as the principal growth engine for ATA’s renewable business vertical. The role requires a highly driven commercial professional capable of originating, structuring, and closing high-value solar contracts with Commercial & Industrial (C&I) clients. This role balances corporate financial pitching (Capex/EPC & Opex/IPP/Group Captive structures) with executing end-to-end regulatory and state-level utility liaison work.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Origination & Client Acquisition: Target, pitch, and secure new C&I corporate clients across the Delhi-NCR and northern grid zones for both third-party EPC projects and long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
- Financial & Commercial Structuring: Analyze potential client balance sheets and current utility tariffs to structure custom energy arbitrage models. Lead corporate negotiations on tariff limits, Group Captive equity mechanisms (26/51 rule framework), and secure binding PPAs.
- Credit Qualification: Screen and pre-qualify incoming off-taker accounts to guarantee institutional bankability for project-level SPV financing.
- State Utility & Regulatory Liaison: Own the regulatory process from lead closure to plant synchronization. Directly interface with state DISCOMs, CEIG (Chief Electrical Inspector to the Government), state transmission corporations (Transcos), and nodal agencies to secure grid connectivity, open-access clearances, and net-metering approvals.
- Market Mapping: Monitor open-access regulations, state solar policies, and industrial hub capacities across target territories to identify high-yield pockets early.
Technical & Behavioural Competencies
- Proven track record of closing at least 15–20 MW of C&I solar contracts (EPC/IPP) in northern India.
- Intimate, working-level knowledge of open-access regulations, wheeling charges, and cross-subsidy surcharges.
- Exceptional financial acumen—ability to clearly communicate project internal rates of return (IRR), payback structures, and regulatory savings to corporate CFOs and promoters.
- Strong existing network of industrial clients and relationships within regional power departments.
Qualifications
- Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or related sectors is highly beneficial.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers.
- Ability to work in a hybrid setup in New Delhi, manage cross-functional teams, and travel as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) is an advantage.
