About the Role:
The General Manager (GM) will lead the Mumbai branch's overall operations, reporting directly to the Managing Partner. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth functioning of the branch through strong administrative leadership and active sales engagement. The GM will be responsible for driving business development, managing client relationships, overseeing staff and operational performance, and ensuring full compliance with corporate and statutory requirements. This includes actively pursuing new business, managing existing accounts, and developing strategies to grow the branch’s market presence.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all administrative functions of the Mumbai branch including staff supervision, documentation, facility operations, and compliance.
- Lead sales efforts personally, including client acquisition, retention, and achieving individual and branch sales targets.
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with clients through regular engagement and service excellence.
- Ensure all statutory, legal, and operational licenses and business documents are maintained and up to date.
- Develop and execute branch-level strategies for business development, revenue growth, and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to execute local promotional campaigns and sales initiatives.
- Manage staff schedules, performance evaluations, training, and task assignments in coordination with the HR Department.
- Monitor and analyze sales metrics and operational KPIs to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Prepare and submit regular branch reports, including sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and budget performance.
- Coordinate with the finance team on invoicing, collections, branch expenses, and financial reporting.
- Ensure branch adherence to corporate policies, safety guidelines, and quality standards.
- Represent the branch in client meetings, industry events, and corporate gatherings as required.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in international freight forwarding, logistics, or GSA sales, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience in B2B sales and client account management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage branch operations independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client-oriented approach.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and time-management skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt quickly to dynamic market conditions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Logistics, or a related field (MBA preferred).
