General Manager – Construction Operations
Location: Mumbai / Pune (Candidate must be based in either city and willing to travel between Mumbai and Pune)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and highly capable General Manager – Construction Operations to lead and manage the end-to-end execution of multiple construction projects as well as coordinate with management. The ideal candidate should have a complete understanding of the construction lifecycle, from project planning and estimation/costing to execution, billing, client management, and project handover.
The candidate must have market knowledge.
The candidate is expected to work well under pressure and deliver output as well as manage operations.
This is a leadership role that requires strong technical knowledge, commercial understanding, and the ability to independently manage projects while leading site teams and coordinating with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders. The role also requires the ability to build strong teams, establish effective processes, and contribute to the overall growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities
● Oversee the complete lifecycle of construction projects from planning to final handover.
● Prepare project execution plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
● Lead site execution teams to ensure timely delivery while maintaining quality and safety standards.
● Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective measures.
● Coordinate with architects, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and government authorities.
● Manage client relationships and act as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
● Review drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents.
● Oversee project billing, measurement sheets, RA bills, certification, reconciliation, and final billing.
● Track project costs, budgets, profitability, and cash flow.
● Manage procurement planning, vendor selection, and material coordination.
● Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, statutory requirements, and quality standards.
● Lead project review meetings and provide regular MIS reports to management.
● Mentor project managers, engineers, and site teams to improve performance and accountability.
● Build and develop high-performing teams and scalable processes to improve efficiency and support business growth.
● Ensure projects are delivered within budget, on schedule, and to the required quality standards.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred).
● 12–20+ years of experience in construction project management.
● Proven experience independently managing multiple medium to large construction projects.
● Strong understanding of planning, execution, billing, contracts, procurement, and project controls.
● Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, drawings, BOQs, rate analysis, and project documentation.
● Experience handling client interactions, negotiations, and project coordination.
● Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
● Proficiency in MS Project, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and project management software is preferred.
