ROLE SUMMARY
The General Manager– Legal & Corporate Affairsleads the group legal functionand serves as principal legal counsel to the senior management. The role holds end-to-end accountability for legal drafting, litigation, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, land matters, and corporate restructuring across all group entities, with particular regard to the compliance obligations of a listed company operating in the alcoholic beverages sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Legal Drafting & Contract Management: Draft, vet, and negotiate commercial, corporate, and statutory agreements, ensuring enforceability and full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Litigation Management: Manage the group litigation portfolio across civil, commercial, excise, and labour matters; oversee external counsel; prepare pleadings; and respond to legal notices within prescribed timelines.
- Regulatory & Statutory Compliance: Maintain a group compliance framework spanning corporate, State Excise, FSSAI, environmental, and labour laws; liaise with concerned authorities.
- Land & Property Matters: Oversee title search, due diligence, and documentation for land acquisition, leasing, and development; maintain land records and resolve property-related disputes.
- Legal Risk Advisory: Assess legal and regulatory risk across business decisions and advise management on mitigation, preventive controls, and standard operating procedures.
- Stakeholder Liaison & Team Leadership: Represent the group before regulators and judicial / quasi-judicial authorities; lead, mentor, and develop the legal team and its reporting framework.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Proficient in legal drafting and contract management while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Experienced in litigation management, including documentpreparation and timelyresponse to legal notices.
- Strong analytical skills to assesslegal risks and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent communication abilitiesfor interacting with stakeholders and legal authorities.
- Exceptional organizational skillsto manage multipletasks and priorities efficiently.
- In-depth command of the relevant laws.
