The company is now looking to expand its presence in new business avenues in automotive and beyond. The company will be focusing on investing in new technologies to create differentiated, premium, and globally competitive products. For our next phase, we are looking for additions to our team.
Title: General Manager

Role Summary
The General Manager will operate as a hybrid strategic–operational leader, supporting the Directors in shaping business ideas, evaluating opportunities, and driving early‑stage execution. The role requires a blend of technical depth, commercial understanding, and structured problem‑solving, with the ability to move fluidly between research, analysis, stakeholder engagement, and hands‑on execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Idea Evaluation & Scoping
- Work with the Directors to understand new business ideas and define their basic scope.
- Break broad concepts into clear tasks, assumptions, and areas requiring further study.
- Identify information gaps and outline what needs validation.
2. Market Understanding & Differentiation
- Study the market to understand customer needs, existing solutions, and gaps.
- Identify practical ways the business can differentiate itself.
- Summarize findings in a clear, structured manner for decision‑making.
3. Market Size & Revenue Estimates
- Prepare rough estimates of market size using TAM, SAM, SOM frameworks:
- TAM (Total Addressable Market): The total demand for the product/service if the company captured 100% of the market.
- SAM (Serviceable Addressable Market): The portion of TAM that is relevant to the company’s specific products, geography, or capabilities.
- SOM (Serviceable Obtainable Market): The realistic share of SAM that the company can capture in the near to medium term.
- Estimate potential revenue ranges using reasonable assumptions.
- Highlight key variables that influence the business case.
4. Competitor & Benchmark Analysis
- Identify relevant competitors in India and internationally.
- Compare their products, pricing, features, and business models.
- Highlight strengths, weaknesses, and areas where Exotech can position itself differently.
5. Discussions with Industry Stakeholders
- Identify and reach out to industry experts, suppliers, or practitioners for inputs.
- Conduct structured conversations to gather insights.
- Summarize key takeaways and share them with the Directors.
6. Research & Documentation
- Conduct secondary research on markets, technologies, regulations, and trends.
- Prepare clear reports, notes, and presentations based on findings.
- Maintain organized documentation for ongoing and future evaluations.
7. Support in Strategic & Operational Tasks
- Assist Directors in evaluating new opportunities, partnerships, or investments.
- Provide first‑level assessments on feasibility, resource needs, and potential risks.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to collect data or validate assumptions.
- Handle other related tasks and evaluations as required.
8. Execution
- Support in various activities of execution after business idea vetted
Candidate Profile
- 8–10 years of experience in roles combining technical and commercial responsibilities.
- Exposure to one or more of the following domains is preferred:
- Automotive components or systems
- Alternate energy (solar, hydrogen, storage, etc.)
- Plastics compounding or specialty materials
- Automation, industrial equipment, or engineering solutions
- Experience in business development, product management, techno‑commercial roles, or strategy roles is valuable.
Education
- Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) or MBA
- Combination of Engineering + MBA is advantageous but not mandatory.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical ability and comfort with numbers.
- Ability to understand technical concepts and link them to commercial outcomes.
- Structured thinking and clarity in problem‑solving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and presentations.
- Confidence in interacting with industry experts and external stakeholders.
- High ownership, initiative, and comfort working in evolving, unstructured environments.
- Creating product costings based on Bill of Materials and Bill of Processes
